My husband and I have been living with my mom for almost 4 years taking care of her and also working full time. She has alzheimers now and is in a power chair because she cannot walk. We have been trying to buy a home for ourselves now for over a year and something always happens to mess it up. Two years ago I was in the hospital with a colon infection...finally got the bills caught up from that but ran up credit cards. Last year I had another attack and had to have surgery. I was out of work for almost 3 months but received disability (40% of my normal pay). After I went back to work my mother required a caregiver so we are having to pay her now, waiting over 9 months for VA benefits which still haven't come. We were trying our best to get on track again, approved for a mortgage and then bang....in April my husband suddenly got laid off. He was lucky and found a better job but still we were without 4 weeks worth of pay. We ran up the credit cards again but managed to find a home to buy. The lender required 2 more days to close because of FHA guidelines but the seller wouldn't extend the contract, had a cash buyer so we lost the home. My mortgage broker said if we could find another home and close before the 14th of August we would be ok. In the meantime our credit scores dropped because we fell behind on a couple of things and had overextended our credit cards from when my husband lost his job. We found the home but FHA guidelines on this one would not alow us to close on time. So our broker had to pull our credit again and it had dropped too low. So now we cannot buy a home for some time until we can bring our credit score up.I have never had so much trouble buying a home ever!! Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas to bring a credit score up in a hurry? We are planning on putting my mom into assisted living and had buyers ready for her home but we had to put that on hold until we have somewhere to go.
