I had a collection account on me for 2 credit cards. It was national financial systems. I settled both accounts for 50% of the balance. One was paid 3/30/08, the other 6/19/08. I checked my credit report and both still show as in collection, with the full balance owed. I tried to call national financial and there is a message that says "no one is available to take your call". I've been calling for weeks. I searched the internet and found at least 15 phone numbers for them, all with the same recorded message - with no option to leave a message (it hangs up after the recording) and no option to talk to a person. I found out that they were fined in a bit way by the FTC for violating the fair debt collection practices. My guess is that these jerks took my money, never paid the original creditor, and then went out of business. I just filed a complaint online with the FTC, but like many, they are probably long gone leaving no traces behind. I made payment by phone, not by check, so I have no proof of payment. Yes, I have bank statements showing funds came out, but the bank statements dont say who the payments went to so that wont help. What do I do?

I miss traveling with my husband. Has anyone found a specific site regarding cruising for widow/widowers or any sightseeing trips. Not interested in being with couples and kids,,,I realize a cruise ship will have a portion size of families and couples, but perhaps they also put together a part of the cruise ship for groups of widows/widowers????
