Here's a thought exercise for you. I like to design houses in my spare time. If you could build your dream house, what would it be like?
I'd like a nice, cottagy two-bedroom house with a front porch. All on one floor because of my husband's bad knee. Wood floors in the living room and bedrooms. A nice big laundry room and an airtight wood stove. A proper front entry with a coat closet and lots of storage space - linen closet, pantry, good closets in the bedrooms. A big sunny kitchen with room for a dining table.
To bad I only get to design them on paper.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I have decided if I ever can do it all the trim would be knotty pine stained dark with wrought iron accents. i did two houses that looked like they were from 16th century France with these kinds of details. Big arched solid doors to all of the bedrooms...
A master bedroom on the main level so I could stay there forever, or have my parents move in if need be. A walkout basement with brick walls rather than drywall, out to a pool and a built in grill and oven/fireplace on the patio...
Ohhh i could go on and on and on... LOL
Oh....I forgot my walk-in pantry. I had to have that too. :)
I would love a fireplace that can be seen from both the bathroom and bedroom. I would like a large tub and a sit in shower. If you take a left out of the kitchen you would walk down a short hallway and there would be a coat closet and then the front door.If you go back up that short hall and take a right which would pass the open kitchen you would go down a hall where there would be 3 bedrooms situated down this hall. The 2 girls bedrooms would be on the right with a bathroom between them and my sons room would be on the left. He also would have his own 3/4 bath with a washer and dryer. At the end of this hallway would be a small efficiency apartment that my sister-in-law would live in. She is mentally challenged and can live on her own as long as she has someone watching out for her. I would also like a full finished basement to have a family room where the kids could keep their toys and where we could watch TV and unwind. I would like an entrance down there with a mud room where they can leave all of their dirty shoes and such. Hey if you are gonna dream, dream big, right.
