Anyone else find it difficult to go back to work after not working for some time? I chose to stay at home with my daughter until she was in school. Now that she is school age I have been looking for part time work but everyone wants a "recent" work history. My work history is 6 years old. There is nothing bad about my history. Just that it's not recent.... very frustrating.
It looks like there may be something for me coming up. A friend who owns her own specialty snack company just signed a big contract and may need more help. It's not big money, but it's something to do. :)

Well good luck finding something that suites you. You would think a lot of employers would understand your choice to raise your child. Have you talked to them directly about it?
If you have a community college in your area, they offer classes to receive licenses for different occupations, such as insurance adjuster (that's what I do), home inspecters, appraisals etc. And it is actually a livable wage.
Good luck in your search!
