I have been unable to do my job for the past 2 months due to a chronic health condition that has become acute. My position at work was secure until last Friday when my employer informed me that I have exhausted all my leave time and have been terminated. My employer requested a form to be filled out by my doctor to state an approximate time I might continue to be unable to work. I read what my doctor wrote before giving it to my employer and found out that my doctor expects that I will not be able to return to work for at least another 6 months. In order to keep my health insurance through the cobra act, I will need to come up with $538.00 a month. Yesterday I made an appointment with social security but through more investigation on the internet, I have found out that in order to qualify for disability, I have to be disabled or expected to be disabled for a least a year. My husband makes too much money to qualify for other assistance and we live in a 'right to work state'. I feel like our situation is falling through the cracks because we are not poor enough to qualify for assistance but not well off enough either to make it without assistance. Does anyone have any ideas of what can we do?

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
