At the start of this new year, my husband will be student teaching. He should be hire-able by next fall. I'll be working as a CNA part-time and going thru nursing school. So we will have some income before long. Right now he substitute teaches and works weekends at a local manufacturing plant. I work online, clean a couple houses, go to school, take care of kids. The effort is there, but there is little revenue to show for it. However, once we have steady careers and income - I think things will change.
We are in the welfare system, and it will be hard to ween off of the security that it provides. Anyone been here before and come out of it? It's not that we'll ever be wealthy. I just want more options and freedom for our family in us having more "choice" in how we live. Am I making sense?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I suppose we could just keep our odd jobs to supplement until we can get some income and savings built-up. I just don't want to be in a worse position than we are currently in being on welfare if you know what I mean. I thought having our careers in order, we'd have an opportunity to at least get ahead enough to protect and maintain our current assets and get an emergency account built up, as well as a checking account.
I think I've just answered my own question.
