I've just read the posts that appear in the top 5-10 on this board. Does anyone notice a theme here. WE are ALL feeling, worthless, overwhelmed, depressed, we're crying, anxious, and basically just not a happy bunch.
I don't have the answers. I won't pretend I do. I WISH I DID...but to be honest, I'm feeling all of these things too. I have to go to work in a little while so I won't be on for long, but I wanted all of those who wrote these "desparate" posts to know that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. You are not UNUSUAL in your thoughts.
Maybe we should all, in our own faith/religious/spiritual way say a prayer for ourselves and each other who are feeling these horrible feelings at this SUPPOSEDLY joyful time of year.
Let's all also step back and give ourselves a break. What I mean is, take some time for yourself today to do something that makes you happy...whatever that is for you. It doesn't have to be expensive, elaborate or extreme. Read a favorite book or the bible, go to Starbucks or make your favorite hot drink and call a supportive friend, write in a journal, or whatever it is that makes you feel GOOD.
I just keep seeing these posts and I want to take you all in my arms for a GROUP HUG!!! Like I said, I don't have the answers....just offering my thougths prayers and as much support as I am able.
Hang in there all and try not to be so hard on yourselves....I'll try too!!!
love and hugs!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Thanks!!! love and hugs....kris

You are so right. Somehow through time, societal expectations etc we have made our society to believe that during the holidays we are all to be happy, joyful, loving, compassionate, and generous. And even though it is a great idea, why did we only limit ourselves to the holidays? Why can't we be like that all the time? Why do we put so much pressure on ourselves just so we can live up to some standard we had no part in making? For me, this holiday season is soo hard. But I refuse for it to be a bad one. I relish in the things that make me smile, that warm my heart, that help me reach out to others instead of focusing on what i can or can not do or how perfect or imperfect everything is. Once we take the stress off of ourselves, the easier and happier this holiday will go for all of us. And for those of us who have past memories or pain through these holiday seasons, cut yourself some slack. Be sad, grieve, whatever it is you need to do and embrace it. It will help you heal and it will help you obtain holiday cheer a little easier when you have had your sad time. There is nothing wrong with being sad during this time of year because there is always a good reason why. We have to just stop telling ourselves we have to live up to that standard of we have no problems, eveyrthing is perfect, we love everyone and we have the means to show eveyrone that we are ok even if we really arent regardless of whether or nto we can afford it. Too many expectations, too many standards...too many traditions that are just not healthy in the end. Be kind to yourselves. Love yourself. Give yourself the time you need if you are sad. do what you can this holiday not what you think you should do. if you hurt your body now you will only pay for it later. and if you are in pain how can you enjoy things later? Big gentle hugs to everyone...
Be kind to yourself
Happy Holidays
I love you all
