Good morning! Who wants more rest, more sleep, and a home-cooked-not-by-them meal? Me, too! (Can we get a hashtag for *that*, LOL!)
Did a bit of raking of the yard yesterday. Oh, I hate what that does to my costochondritic ribs. Oooh. The same "spot" every time. Ow ow ow. But the pine needles are neatly stacked like itty-bitty haystacks, and the smell in the sun was lovely:-)
Today in 1860, Abraham Lincoln was elected president of the United States of America. A year later, Jefferson Davis was elected president of the Confederate States of America, the states which secede from the US after Lincoln's election (edited at request to avoid "political content").
Anyway, a bit of a weird historical bookend that Lincoln and Davis were elected a year apart, altho' Davis had been acting as president for months, under auspices of the Confederate legislature.
Note: Until fairly recently in US history, US Congress set tariffs. The duty devolved (ahem, was taken) on the US President. So the whole tariffs issue affected different regions of the nation differently then, as now, as always, and everyone pitched a fit, and it's really a jmiracle we have *a* country this big, given that you can fit Europe Union nations into the Lower 48. (Note: the EU doesn't include Russia.)
Actually, you can fit France into Texas. In terms of land area, anyway.
Where was I?
And today in 1995, the owner of the Cleveland Browns (NFL) said, "We're moving to Baltimore!" THis caused uproar, ruckus, and mayhem, resulting in this fun fact: The Cleveland Browns still exist, in Cleveland, whereas the Baltimore team is known as the Ravens, and that, folks, is the *short* version of that epic "WTH?!" moment in sports history. Cleveland without a team? Baltimore "Browns"? Oh, I still remember the upset! (Baltimore, btw, had previously had an NFL team called the Colts. Who had moved to INdianapolis. COnfused? Yeah, took everyone a while to adjust.)
And on that note(?sour?) off to the day!
Hugs, purrs, puma power to us all:-) (Did you know a puma can jump up to 20 feet from a cold standstill? See? PUMA POWER!)
Hey, everyone, you still there? You okay?***Did you know: The reverse and lateral pass are the only legal ones in rugby, whereas the forward pass became a standard of American football, which is based far more on rugby than soccer? (Look at the shapes of the balls for a start, and then the rules, and then the tackles...)The delicate shade known as French green in previous centuries was due to...
