We went to a shelter to see about fostering a traumatized adult male.
We walked out with sisters Dixie (tortoiseshell loudmouth) and Dahlia (black and shy until she's on your lap). Less than 1 year old, but the shelter was horrible --- kennel cough epidemic about to start, ringworm risk --- it was just... I was sitting near the traumatized male cat's cage to see if he'd relax a little and Dahlia got on my olap. OK. One kitten I named Foofer (all foof, no cat under it, I swear) was sitting on my left shoe and stayed there till we peeled her off, btw. Anyway. Dahlia made "happy paws" (made biscuits, as they say here) and the staff about passed out b/c she's never done that in the time at the shelter. Well, Dixie is her sister, and ... that's that. We got owned.
Dix mouths off most when Hubby is near. She knows it gets results. They're healthy, however, an dhopefully staying that way. She's the escape artist and adventurer.
Dahlia (named Black Dahlia, but not to meet as gruesome an end, I hope!) is a hider-slinker.
And the sibling rivalry? Yep. If one might get something, both must. Id' forgotten that about 2-at-once cats. I say that b/c we were so specialized in ferals that cats raised domestic by humans are a huge mental adjustment.
Shadow has not met them, nor LilMiss, but Spice did, and was indifferent. And adult cats didn't faze the "girls".
I'd get pix but they dont' sit still that we can find. We have them in the old Mom Suite for now, till they're used to us and the space. Too much at once, too anxious. Just like people that way.
So that's why I'm late. Busy rescuing Hubby whose idea of co-parenting a cat is "What do I do? You tell me." Ummm... Why is every decision on me? Hmm.
All this b/c Hubby was thinking "let's foster a traumatized male adult". Yeah. He never stood a chance when Dixie got hold of him. I'd have left with a dog, too, but one thing at a time...
Hey. I'm Leo. I was around a lot and about a year ago I left DS PTSD. Just got too... Today: This week: The clock in my head is broken, and the calendar makes no sense. Triggers involved:dateweathermemoryviolence***TW: So, a very long time ago (like, over 30 years) my dad tried to kill me with for-real rage and intent and hands and screaming at me and ...Sometime after that day (today, only in...
Good morning!I had horrible sleep. We had a 20% chance o rain and got THREE thunderstorms in six hours, with about an inch of rain. Oh good. The gutter cleaning saved us somewhat but ... it was coming in waterfalls, not drops. Yeesh.Frogs are seeking higher ground. That's how wet it is. I do not exaggerate. Frogs want it to be less wet. Not good.***Meanwhile, temperatures in parts of Europe will...
