My best Christmas present so far has been getting my hope chest some twenty or so years ago. I never thought that I would get one. I had to follow a red string of yarn out the front door, and into my next door neighbor's living room. There I saw my hope chest. It was from my great-grandparents, my grandparents, my parents and brother. I still have it filled with things to this stay.

There are 7 children in my family , my dad used to farm,so there were years that there wasn't much money for gifts,when I was 10 we had such a year..my parents gave us each a piggy bank with a $10 bill inside. 42 yrs later I still have my bank,a bright yellow pig with pink flowers on it.It constantly reminds me of the sacrifices my parents made for us.

I came from a family of seven, we had very little money, as a child I remember that my grandparents who lived several hours away would come, they would bring us metal cans with potatoe chips, bottles os soda and choc. candies. Those were treats we did not get often. The community service people brought a box of presents to our house one time, and all of us girls got a new doll, they all had on a different outfit.One year my dad was half sloshed and was going by the hardware store and saw these tobaggons, he bought them $75.00 One for the girls and one for the boys. We wore those tobaggons out over the years. My husbands mother who has now died bought me a service of 12 Corelle Ware dishes the year my husband and I were married. My husband bought me that wonderful mattress warmer one year. My kids all went in together and bought me a footbath thing, it has heat, massage and bubbles.

The first Christmas I had with my son.

The promise ring that my husband gave me 8 yrs ago. The following June he proposed & we married that Sept. Unfortunately, when he replaced it w/an engagement ring, the promise ring(along w/the wedding band) got lost, but that's another story. I wish I still had it. I guess the better present was the promise that he made good on. I still have him & now our 3 beautiful children! :}

I have had several special presents as an adult, and having my boys has made Christmas so special each year. However, I think it would be the typewriter I got when I was 12 or 13. I didn't have the best childhood and grew up feeling invisible or inconvient. But on this Christmas I recieved a beautiful, brand new typewriter. I was always writing stories and took a lot of kidding about writing the "Great American Novel". Getting that typewriter made me feel like my parents actually understood something about who I was. I wrote many stories on that typewriter, some of which I still have.

The first year after my divorce, when money was very tight. (well, what I considered very tight at the time, it's been worse since). My girls made gifts for me. Cara made me a book from construction paper, tied together with yarn. She drew pictures on each page, with poems she had written, and little stories. Meg had gathered some family photos and put them in a little album, with notes of love. I cherish those two things so much, because they are proof that the girls learned the lessons I've tried to teach them, and they remind me I am very loved.

It had to be the when I was about five and I REALLY wanted a Tina The Ballerina Doll. On Christmas morning we woke my parents and went downstairs and there she was under the tree. I thought I was going to pass out with excitement. If you pushed in her crown she did ballet moves. I was in ballet at the time and I spent hours with that doll. I wish I could say I still had her but she met with an unfortunate accident. My baby sister banged her head against the wall and her head popped off. I cried for a week! It still was the best gift I remember getting.

My favorite Christmas gift was a Bible my husband gave me 3 years ago. The inscription is beautiful, and touches my heart everytime I read it.

I honestly don't remember getting anything really special. I pretty much get nice presents from everyone. Maybe my nana's child sized organ when I was about 6 or a card Bekka wrote when we didn't have much money and couldn't afford to get her very much. It was adorable.

My dad was pretty big into using fleck-stone when I was younger....that's the spray on stone that comes in a spray paint can that u can usually get at the craft store. So anyways, he bought me a violin (I had been playing for 10 years at that point)....carefully cut out the back of it and installed a kit to make it electric so I could plug it into a speaker and sprayed it this awesome fleck-stone electric blue color. At the time I was imbarrassed to bring it to school but as I got older I used it in highschool and got a lot of compliments on it.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
