Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.
Others use more natural approaches like massage, accupuncture, and other non-traditional means to help ease the pain.
For me, I have tried it all. I am currently finding success with sustained release morphine, cymbalta, provigil, and klonipin. I sometimes use percocet for breakthough pain.
I had tried the massage and accupuncture and they were WONDERFUL, but the cost was too great and my insurance would NOT cover them, in spite of my efforts to appeal the decision.
So, I stick with the meds. I also do yoga and walk when I can.
I wish you much luck in your disability claim process and please let us know how you do!!
Gentle hugs,
Morus
There are some people who find some medications useful while others have really bad reactions to those medications. I didn't find much help in most of my medications. So I went the completely natural route and have been medication free (and virtually pain free) for two years.
My solution was going all organic and taking wholefood supplements to give me extra energy and the ability to function on a higher level. Other people find other dietary changes helpful. Some examples are: sugar-free, wheat-free, and dairy-free. I personally did not have to give up any of these though I have tried to cut back my sugar and dairy levels because I know they are not particularly good for my overall health.
Really, you have to find what works for you and what feels right for you. Some people feel more comfortable working within the standard Western approach to health (medications) others (like myself) did not, so have looked for alternatives and lifestyle changes that have helped us minimize or nearly eliminate the affect this disease has on our lives. Part of the fibro journey is learning about yourself and with what you are comfortable. Good luck in your journey.
