Hey, we're here! (We are, right? Ping, peeps. You there, too?)
Yesterday was ... horrible. I waxe dour car. I even used a ladder and beach umbrella (oh to have taken a pic, silly me) held together by duct tape and laws of physics to shade me....
But some meds can enhance sensitivity to exposure to sunlight, and after 3 hours? Me sick. No sunburn. Just... "off" more than usual. Many fluids (broth, lemonade, broth) required to "re-set" my system. I *ALWAYS* forget that about some of my meds, especially in combo. ARGH. ANd I live in th eUS SOUTH. Where "sunny" means "not a cloud to be seen for 100 iles and the sun is like a laser beam hitting you."
Yeah. But the car is shiny!
Todahy, the house smells of mint and thyme and sage. No, not cooking, LOL. Drying herbs. Poor Dahlia. She LOVES grass. She thinks anything green and in my hand is fair game. She snagged a bit of mint and recoiled like she'd been dunked in cold water. The look of betrayal I got? Epic. Shakespearean. (She has allergies, so her nose is a wee bit off, but the vet already okayed her. She had this issue this time last year.) Dixie, btw, is indifferent. It isn't kibble. She doesn't care.
Happy Armed Forces Day in the US! And don't forget Victoria Day upcoming Monday in Canada!
Ever wonder where the term "sucker" came from? Well, there's allegedly two theories, but I think they're one thing. There's a fish called a sucker, for its face. It is very easy to catch. That is one theory. The other is that sucker somehow came to mean "naive". I say that the definition of "naive enough to take any bait" came fro the *fish* and here we are. But that's me.
Got veiny hands as you age, like me? Thank your DNA, and, in my case, low body fat (at the moment, anyway... shortage of Belgian chocolate, dammit). You can ice 'em, keep 'em over you head, all kind sof things, but basically, in my case, it's fate, and the ffact I've been working all my life. And not at a desk.
You can use cinnamon to lighten your hair! Of coures, you have to sleep on it... Literally. And have a lot of groudn cinnamon. And you can't use the kind found in the US. It has to be the kind used in Europe. Cassia cinnamon, which we love here in the US? Is technically not "real" cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon (much milder, IMO) is the "real" cinnamon to food snobs. But if you want to lighten your hair a bit ---- make a paste of cinnamon and water, coat your hair, wrap you rhead ina shower cap (a goo done!) and sleep on it. Then get up, and wash your hair, and hopefully your house and you don't smell like a bad Youtube challenge for a week.
Got blonde or white hair? You can, in fact, add temporary color using... food coloring. It washes out ina few days, but... Eh, why not? Where am I going in lockdown (still to last till mid-June here)? A few pink or blue strands at the tmples is just fun, right? Yes, I am THAT bored.
Want to make lemonade out of lemons? Cook 'em. Seriously. Equal amounts of fresh-squeezed lemon juice, water, and sugar to taste; use a vegetable peeler to take a strip of zest off the lemon; add that in, with the flesh only of your lemon(s) (no white parts!); simmer to a runny syrup; refrigerate. And you have lemonade-making syrup for the summer. I make it so I end up with about a cup of syrup at a time, and it lasts me a month, sine I use one tablespoon per 16 ounces of water to make the lemonade. (Hubby is a lemonade wimp. I eat lemons. With glee. Mweahahaha!)
And in other trivia, the actor who played Gimli the DWARF in The Lord of the Rings films by Peter Jackson? (John RHys-Davies)... Was the tallest actor on set. Irony much? Most know him as Sallah in Raider of hte Lost Ark, btw.
OK, I've been up since 4 AM, on 3 hours of sleep, and the waeather will be rainy, fibro-unfriendly all week it seems, so... Off to nursd a cup of hot tea and figure out how to convince Dahlia to let me trim her one ragged claw tip.
LOVE HUGS PUMA POWER!
Hey, everybody, just wanting to say thanks for getting me through the latest gut punch of another pandemic travel ban. As you all know, I got PTSD growing up in Mexico and Uruguay as a missionary kids with parents who weren't evacuated from a war zone. They got PTSD really bad and turned to violence in the house that sadly matched the violence of the war out in the streets.I wasn't a soldier,...
Well, it's not yet 9 Am an dmy day sucks! Guess what showed up 9 days off schedule? (Guys, you can guess. Gals, you don't have to. You know.)Yep. Nine days off schedule. That's a record. Never more than 3 before. Oh.... crud. And it's the worst weather for my fibro --- warm and humid. Yippee!SO LET'S TALK.****LET'S TALK...CANDY!The gummy bear was invented in Germany. The caramel-chocolate candy we...
