OK, this is silly. Good morning! And... No cats. OK. No cords to be yanked out (hah!). No Hubby dropping a glass of water and it getting on the laptop. It's... safe... ??? (Hubby tripped and the water just *flew*... Dixie was underfoot.)
Feeling old today. Long story short? I'm getting old.
So... Things I grew up knowing that people no longer bother to know or don't learn or are considered "passe":
Cursive handwriting. Mine is much neater since my arm break, ironically. I can't move my wrist fully. It's killed my artwork, which is a totally other issue, but yep. Cursive.
<> are not for emojis, but means less than and greater than, respectively, in math, and are used in that fashion in other disciplines as well.
The # did nto start life as "hashtag" but as "pound" or "number" symbol.
Punctuation. Just... Y'know. Informal writing, I'll let it slide, but sometimes, if you want to make a point, the commas and such must be used appropriately. Also, I vote we get rid of semicolons (;) because outside emojis, the rules on usage vary so much from one decade or style to another that it's bloody impossible to know when it's okay to use the darned thing!
I miss math. Maybe I'm odd, but knowing basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) and doing it in my head or even with pencil and paper is second nature. My phone couldn't go to the store and tell me how many steps I took while it also gave me a subtotal for the groceries in the cart.
I also miss the days when one could exist without it having to be filmed by phone and shown online to "count". In fact, I'm grateful for the lack of cameras and video-making in this household. My fails are bad enough as is. Don't need 'em on YouTube!
What do YOU miss that has altered a lot since yoru version of the "old days"?
And on to the weekend! Charge! ...
Oh, and I actually bought bras online that *fit*. Surreal!
Peeps - Sorry this is late. I lost all motivation late yesterday and then had a really bad night. Pretty sure that I was awake every hour on the hour. And, at 3 AM, Smurf threw up on the bed. Naturally, I have an appointment today too.I will check back in later. I just wanted to get us started!
Hey, all! I should be back Monday morning. Till then, my cats send you Fur-iday purrs and, obvs, relaxation vibes.
