Good morning a bit late! Winter showed up for 12 hours here:-) Snow! Not much iMHO, but enough to shut down where I live, versus where I grew up. To me, this is still sneakers weather, don't even bother with boots. It'll melt today.
Meanwhile, how's everyone doing? I know my whiplash is irritating *me*. I had it calmed down but then it flared for (???) and oh, does it hurt like the dickens! All spasm and crunch. Heat and rest ahoy, I hope!
Ever hear of Vail Code? Of course not. But today in 1838, Alfred Vail devised a ssytem of dots and dashes, which was the precursor to the Morse Code we know best now.
IN a way, happy birthday-ish to IBM (International Business Machine). Today in 1889, Herman Hollerith got a patient for a tabulating machine. He'd go on to found Tabulating Machine COmpany, then renamed International Business Machine, and of course IBM is still around!
In 1958, 14-year-old BObby FIscher won the US Chess Championship. He was granted title of Grandmaster, and went on to hold the WOrld CHess Championship title 1972-75, and only gave up his title when he refused to abide by a rule set in the 1975 championship... Thus ceding his title to Anatoly Karpov, who held th etitle for a decade, and was beat by Garry Kasparov. Fischer and Kasparov are considered among the greatest chess players of all time (in recorded history of the game). In 1992, Fischer violated a US sanction against Yugoslavia and participated in a match there. Fischer had his US passport rescinded, and eventually settled in Iceland, where he died in 2008. Fischer wound up most noted for his erratic behavior, which isn't too odd given 1. his genius and 2. his age when he hit fame and stardom (14!)...
Today in 1997, Mr. Rogers received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
And for sports buffs, Jackie Robinson announced his retirement from pro baseball today in 1957 in "gossip"-news rag "LOOK".

Hve a good day! :-)
OK, well, maybe not therapeutic, but we can dream? Good morning. Not much sleep last night. Frankly, I hate hormones. Nuff said, the ladies all understand what that's about.***THe Spanish word for sister is the only one that isn't related to the old Indo-European root word in all the Latin or even Germanic and Slavic languages. Don't believe me? Check it out. "Hermana" is from old Latin for...
