Hi! Today is my wedding anny --- 27 years --- and suddenly my sweet Hubby is back. :-) Dishes done no complaints. Help without complaint. And *an apology*...
Woke me up today with chocolate donut and cocoa, too. Since I have OT first thing (ow!). Then oatmeal and another cuppa. :-) Ahh...
In other news, our one cat is adapting beautifully to her weight management food, so woot on that too.
On the note of weddings: Mine cost $300 total in the day (blood tests, marriage licenses, my dresse, new tie for Hubby, etc.). Our wedding gift from the parents were our rings. Taking into account infalation? Still comes in under $600 in 2019 US dollars.
By comparison? Average cost of a wedding in the US? $35,000 in 2016, now down to $33,000 in 2018.
That said, we're taking into account the extremes like the $250,000 bashes thrown for the ooh-la-la and the $300 set like me.
According to several sources --- including Money, Brides, the Times, etc. --- while wedding costs go *up*, the number of guests has gone *down*. That's right, baby, it's all abou tthe bridal bling-bling! Fountains! Crystal beading! Diamonds! Designer gown! Perfect flowers! Every wedding is a photo shoot! Excellent food! but who needs pesky guests?...
In my family on my mom's side, this would be *heresy*. We invite people we only know from the family tree entries. Average guest count for those who don't elope to a justice of the peace for $300?... About 200-250. Hey, go big or go home. My uncle worked an extra year at his job just to pay for my cousin's wedding, btw, b/c the food budget was the biggest item. :-)
So, it's all about the photo op apparently? I dunno. I mean, it'sa ncie idaea, but brides today ltieraly no longer say "I am princess for a day". THey say "I want to be a Kardashian for a day".
OK, off to shower and go to OT and then PTSD therapy and... wow, bummer on the rest of the day, but hey, donuts first thing! Woot!
Have a great day! :-)
Absolute agony here, so keeping it brief. Forget it. (Well, I meant another eff word but...)Hugs and support. Just gonna be a long hot rotten day here, so...CUteness required...
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia earlier this month (May) and it really sucks. I have been in so much pain. It is so stressful dealing with another health problem for me. I hope these new meds work because this is really annoying and hard to deal with.
