Good morning. Four hours of sleep! Woot!
So... Yeah. I am wary of this weekend, and weary of it already. (At 630 on a Saturday morning, no less.)
So... yeah. Tough time for me this time of year. Bad anniversaries of stuff. Hitting harder b/c I'm not sleepnig, of course.
And my mom will be *such* a treat!
Fortunately, I have cats.
So many cats.
Y'all, there's the two I "own" (hah!) and then there's the crowd from next door (yep, they're still around regularly, and come for pets and love and food and water and drying off and now even to get "cat grass" b/c mine won't eat it and there's this swathe of it growing it, so now all cats eat my yard...)... And the usual visitors who come by once or thrice a week...
And after a while, you just zone out watching them, wondering what they're watching, b/c it's a Zen thing, really. Like a sleeping puppy. Or a happy dog. You just "zen" out.
And then they suddenly zoom all over and you have to stand very still or be considered a traffic obstacle, and that's no fun with 36 claws on 8 paws ripping around in pursuit of imaginary mice.
And that's my cats *without* catnip.
Back in 1973 on this date, Arnold Palmer didn't get to the last two rounds of the PGA championship. It was the first time in Arnie's career that he failed to make the cut in that way for that big a tournament.
Japan in 1945 announced its surrender after the bombing of Nagasaki the previous day with an atomic bomb. Interestng side note: The bomb at Nagasaki actually missed its intended destination and landed a bit outside the ideal target zone.
In 1809, Ecuador started its fight for independence from Spain, reaching that state in 1820 as part of "Greater Colombia" (Gran Colombia in Spanish), then total independence in 1830. Ecuador was home to the Incas, who achieved great dominion in the region right before the Spanish showed up... And that was that...*sigh*
For the record "Gran Colombia" is just what we call the state-nation-mass that was northern South America for a decade. It covered land from northwestern Brazil to Panama to (obvs) Ecuador, basically like a little "cap" on South America with a bit of CEntral America added.
In 1948, ABC debuted "Candid Camera", originally intended to be called "Candid Microphone". The alliteration worked better for obvious reasons, and those of us who are old enough know "Candid Microphone" is what we called "live uncanned local radio" not that long ago...
And now, back to my regularly scheduled "force myself forward" for a few more hours before I nap, then find a replacement for our awesome bug-zapping silent light we had in the house. The company due to current trade/tariff situations no longer sells in the US, so I can't replace the old bulb. *sigh* Everywhere sold out right quick. I missed it by *hours* in three places, online included, so... Alternative poison-free pest control is a goal for the weekend!
I went to get more trigger point injections in my neck and shoulders. The doctor did more this time than he did last time. After the injections, My arms shoulders and neck have been sore for days, which is normal. But the problem is that I think the shots aggravated the peripheral neuropathy that I have in my arms and hands. Iimmediately after the shots the neuropathy, the pain, the numbness,...
Good morning! And it's been morning for me for a while. Alas.Four hours of sleep. Down at midnight (finally! the muscle relaxant kicked in and my back unkinked!)... and up when it wore off. Four hours. Ping! I see the doc again ASAP, but ASAP means "stand by for his phone call and run out door". Oh boy... As it's the weekend, I predict I will need another round of scar-scanning and so forth....
