Today when I dropped off my percocet script I had to show an ID to drop it off. I have been going to walmart for years. My insurance will only allow us to use the same pharmacy for everything. The lady that waited on me was new, today was the first time ive seen her. Maybe thats why but i was like huh, excuse me? I felt like i didnt hear her right the first time.
When i pick up my scripts tommorow i am going to ask, but was just curious of anyone else uses walmarts pharmacy if this is a new policy?
I sometimes have hubby pick up my scripts or my mom drops them off for me. If this is the case this will be a huge pain. Because of their hours osme days i cant get there before they close so i have someone else pick them up, in the past at least.
Anyone ever have to show an id to drop off a script?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Hmmm, now I want to go to a Walmart pharmacy, just to see what they do, then I can get back to you.
Blessings, Jan
I will find out today whats going on and if this is something new they started for whatever reason.
Actually i was just at the pharmacy buying some childrens Motrin, have to purchase that at the pharmacy and show ID bcause of the pheuso in it, i have a script waiting there for me, but dont need it just yet. When she saw me in line she pulled it. She asked if i wanted it, i told her no id pick it up when i drop off and pick up my percocet mid week. She didnt say anything about showing ID for it.
Or it could just be that this new worker has been told to do this or maybe it is something new for thier protection or whatever.
I was just curious if anyone else uses walmart pharmacy and has had to show ID.
Soft hugs, Deb
This way they can prosecute a person for stealing anothers medication because they have your ID on file.
Sad but it is for our own protection.
I went today and picked up both scripts, one narcotic one not. I was not asked for an ID, and the woman that checked me out at the pharmacy was a store worker, not a pharmacy worker. I checked out at the pharmacy. As i was leaving i saw a regular pharmacy worker that knows me by first name stocking a med shelf. I asked her about the ID thing when i dropped off my percocet script. She looked at me and said huh? I told her again that i had to show an ID when i dropped off my percocet script but didnt have to show one when i picked it up. She laughed and said well u see who the pharmacist is today? I said ya, yet another new pharmacist that ive never seen before.
Im not sure whats going on, maybe it depends on what pharmacist is working that day, but i swear this walmart pharmacy has over 50 pharmacists that work there in a month.
There are no signs up at this walmart pharmacy stating we need to show an ID for anything.
I dont mind having to do this however id think that showing an ID to pick up a narcotic is much more important than when dropping one off. We will see what happens in a few weeks when i drop off my ms contin script. lol
This is just too funny. To me, pharmacy work is to be taken serious, however our walmart pharmacy is a joke most of the time.
I have to show ID at our Wal Mart and I know everyone there, I worked along side of them for years. It is supposed to be standard procedure to ID for narcs. You can still have someone else pick up your prescription. They will just have to show ID if asked.
There also might have been a theft or trouble with a script at that store or another close by. When things happen they will make associates check for certain things.
