I've had severe muscle contractions for a few months now. They were excrutiating until I saw my pain specialist and got a "coctail"....now my muscles twich uncrontrolably CONSTANTLY!!! It's not just in my legs it's everywhere...u can see the muscles actually jumping. I've even dropped things and have fallen recently. I brought this up to my pain specialist and all she wanted to do was increase the lyrica. I'm going to bring this up to my primary...but it's so constant that I just feel like crying. I've tried to ignore it, constantly move the part thats twiching at that time...but it just doesn't stop. It even wakes me out of a sound sleep. Anyone else have this problem? I just looked up benign fasciculations Syndrome...but I'm not exactly sure if its that or if its just another annoying symptom of fibro. Sorry if my spelling sux tonight, I'm having a bad day.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
At one time I had hurt my back and kept working even tho I was in extreme pain. At the end of the Christmas season that year I got into bed and couldn't get out, my back hurt so much. While I layed there I had uncontrollable spasm all over my back and sides. The doctor said that all those muscles were tense from having to hold me up for so long cause there was a problem with my spine. So I would say to you, unless you have had some kind of major strain on your body and muscles that uncontrollable spasming doesn't make any sense. Definitely follow up with your regular doc and don't stop until you get a real answer. Unfortunately a lot of times docs think we won't understand the real story so they put in simple terms that they think we will understand. In this case we definitely have to be smart, educated consumers so we get respect from our doctors and the real answers to our questions. Good luck, I hope you find out real soon what is going on...hugs jilly
Once when I had trigger point injections, I had constant twitching in the led that was treated. Still no pain but it too drove me crazy and it only lasted 2 days.
Please do get yourself checked out. I wouldn't wait till your next appointment. I would call right away.
Good Luck!!
There are over 40 types of seizure disorders and I have a nice number of them!
You can have seizures in and of themselves or some meds. actually have a side effect of seizures!
There is a seizure type called a "drop attack!" It is where you spontaneously loose muscle tone and do things like drop things, fall down, head drooping, mouth, eye drooping, leaning to one side or the other etc.
So when you said you fell and dropped things, that's what led me to speculate seizures!
You can also have things like MS or Palsy that cause you to get "the shakes!" You know, like older ladies that can't keep their heads or hands from shaking!
I would certainly get to a neurologist and get this all checked out as to what it may be! Only way to know for certain you have seizures or even just seizure side effects from your meds.
A regular doc. will not be able to determine if you have seizures or any neurological disorders!
But you need to get it checked out! It's good that you are concerned and not just assuming it's all Fibro related! Because there are a number diseases and disorders that one can unfortunately have alongside of Fibro.
Get it checked out and do let us all know how it goes!
Take care,
Stay sane!
I agree your best bet is to talk to your primary.
My son has always had some level of twitching with his meds (8 years on meds), but far better that than a grand mal seizure.
try wikipedia...it explains alot and might help calm your fears.
