So what is tripe?
Other than an expression for "that's a load of crap" or, if you're not American, "rubbish"...
It's the stomach lining of grass-eating animals, and people eat them. They're quite nutritious and often added to sausage in some world cuisines, and the stomach usually comes from cows or sheep. Sometimes goats. My husband ate some in Spain back in his carnivorous youth and didn't know what they were until later... Whoops.
But I know it mostly as the slang term for "this is crap" as in "pointless, worthless, BS, etc."
Tripe woudl be... health care. Everything for my arm was done at the One Hospital. However, they don't like to look budget-silly by employing doctors directly so they hire doctors' "practices" (most of these only work at the hospital and have offices in the hospital and don't have patients from any other source)... But the surgical practice bills separately from the anesthesiologist's practice bills separately from the hospital itself (my outpatient surgery bed was damn expensive, apparently) and so forth and so on until we've had to work out payment plans with not One Hospital but the hospital and about five "practices" (read: contractors)...
And the One Hospital is already sending us the threatening notes when it's not yet 90 days. Sure, I'll whip several thousand dollars out of my cookie jar and just hand that over.
On a different note, the cleaned-out and scrubbed intestines of animals were often used as the "skin" to hold sausage, and some still do so.
And if you live in the Americas, and need tow worry about Chronic Wasting Disease in your deer/moose/elk... Be aware that CWD in deer is ap rion disease. pardon. Prion disease. Like Mad Cow. So... While the risk of it jumping to humans is small, it's there, and awareness is key. CWD is also called "zombie deer disease". I've seen deer with it. Yuck.
OK, I am done rambling about tripe (slang use) and will be off to deal with the day. Most specifically, the fact I slept about 3 hours if you add up the bits and pieces. We had *such* a bad storm here that it was hard to get to bed after... branches down, flooding, power out, terrified (wet) cats, part of our road was washed out and the fire department showed up to do something or other and those engines are *noisy*... so... Long night awake, short night asleep!
Hugs and supportive purrs to all!
OK, I moved the fridge Thursday to clean, and since Friday AM, my back is a screaming hater. Yes, I know. Yell at me later, please? Please???So I'm moving slower than usual (or not much at all) and it's HEAT WARNING day. Again. *sigh*Be warned: This weekend is not happy in Leo Land. Low temps over 80*F?! For a low?! I grew up with that for a summertime *high*!For thsoe who love it hot and humid,...
