Good morning! Slept four in a row. Woot!
And... what ugly NFL football play y'all. I mean, dang. I mean, ugh and ugly. I've been watching football since I was *born*, literally. And this past weekend? I flashed back to my (utterly crappy awful horrible) high school team a couple times. And not just the playing in some cases.
Best moment? If you can find the clip, a ref forgot his microphone aws on (or did he?) and called 15-yard penalty (personal foul), first down, and, I quote, "You can't do that".
I felt like yelling that a lot this past weekend.
So today's PT was canceled on account of BullSpit related to other BullPucks... Yeah, just gotta sit and wait for HVAC maintenance. Yep. Joy.
Today Google is honoring the guy who changed how we look at drug adddiction, to sum up the blurb.
It's also the first day of pink-ribbon Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In 1885, today in th eUS, special mail delivery began ... In West Virginia. Special Delivery was available until 1997.
Today also kicked off the first mondern World Series in pro baseball, with Boston eventually taking the best-of-nine from Pittsburgh, back in 1903.
If you adjust for inflation, the debut of the Model T by Henry Ford today in 1908 for a mere $850 racks up to a little over $23K in 2019 dollars. Yep. You read those numbers correctly.
In 1936, Francisco Franco was delcared the head of Spain. And, for obvs reasons, nobody argued much what with Franco having the high poobah position in the military, but they did argue, and that kicked off that partic ular SPanish Civil War. Which ended in 1939. Franco remained in charge until his death in 1975, with the title "Caudillo". That won't translate exactly, but if you cross "Dicatator" with "personally charismatic bully with big forces", that about sums it up. Yeah, see? Caudillo is shorter.
Ando n that note... My arm has recovered from the mousse making, so I made molded chocolates. They are white-specked on *purpose* (I dusted the molds with confectioner's sugar b/c I don't have 100% cocoa butter for making mymolds all easy-peasy, and if you wonder how they do it on those cooking shows? They never tell you *that* part, do they? No, they do not. Helps with molds and tempering chocolate.) Anyway, they came out adorable, but Hubby ate most of them. Already. Some people think white specks mean the chocolate is "bloomed" and ruined. No. That's a white-gray "coating", and that chocolate can be saved, it just melted and re-solidified under bad bad bad conditions. In fact, I used bloomed chocolate to make the molded chocolates. Melt it down, add some "proper" chocolate, and it all works out.
Today will be 90-plus, and remaining so for several days, in my part of the country. If you have cold weather, please send. Please. Thanks;-)
