In the last month, I started a new system of tracking all my ambient pain. I have a drawing, front and back of a basic human body. I made several photocopies of it and fill one out each day, highlighting all the places that come and go. I like this for two reasons: 1. I am able to track all my pain and watch how different stressors, diet changes, etc. affect the intensity or areas of pain.
2. It makes me feel more powerful, being able to name where it is. Like finding a germ thats hiding from me. I can map the pain and that makes me feel more in control of it.
I dunno if this helps anyone at all, but I find it reassuring. Its great for anyone who has FM and a desk jobI keep my daily log in a binder in my desk, so its easy to get to and update as new pain comes and goes.
Do any of you have other recommendations for psychological ways to approach handling FM?

Today is my 25th birthday, to my somewhat lack of surprise I can see already no one really seems to care. I've always been the kinda person to make sure that everyone I Care about feels appreciated and knew somebody had their back. I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
If you have all sorts of strange pains here, there and everywhere, chances are you have chronic myofascial pain syndrome which is knots [known as trigger points] in the muscles that refer pain to other parts of the body. In order to relieve the pain for any period of time, you have to break up or deactivate the trigger points.
I use the book featured at triggerpointbook.com along with a two-headed percussion massager. It takes quite a bit of time, but it's either do the massage and relieve the pain or just be miserable. I choose the former.
I'm pain-free 90% of the time and am not on any pain meds. I can't recommend learning this enough. It's made my life bearable.
Thank you so much for showing me another way to handle this! I can't wait to get my photo copies when my husband comes home tonight!
I track fatigue, headache, arm pain, back pain, general ache, hours of sleep, spoon level and weather.
It's been interesting to track how my pain ebbs and flows plus how the weather impacts it.
My rheumo doesnt seem to mind my journal either. I have written so much from this site and taken it in to him.
It is quite helpful
