This should go to caregiver board but sometimes I think they think all I do is bitch so you all get my daily bitch about my dad tonight. (lucky you)
He gets one of the best meals i have
cooked in along time - tenderloin, brussel sprouts and garlic mashed potatoes and what does he do but carry on for 10 minutes how there is butter on the side of the fcking(his word not mine) butter dish. Finally I looked at him and said who cares, you have a great meal eat it before it goes cold. I thought Mel was gonna pee her pants laughing. He sticks his lip out like little boy and mumbles sorry.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
For example, with one lady, I pour a cup of just made coffee, very little milk in it and she complains that it's ice cold. I don't want her to get burnt. Then she complains that there's no sugar in it (sugar's right there), complains that she needs help with her chair but complains if you go help her first without her asking "I can do it myself, thank you" (patronizing look and tone here)..etc.
There's also another lady that if you walk by her, she'll swear at you and give you the finger. She's actually now one of my favs, and loves me (gives me kisses and hugs) but it's taken me a while to figure her out. It turns out that she doesn't like the patronizing hello/wave whatever... she'd rather have you bend down to her (she's in a wheelchair) and take 2 mins to ask her about her night, if she has any visitors coming etc. A little hug or a pat on her shoulder and she's a completely different woman! LOL
It does sound like your dad is needing some extra attention. Not sure what he was like before or if he's in a nursing home now. Maybe there's something going on with medication or that's he's in pain or lonely and not able to tell you. I do think sometimes you have to be firm with them but patient and understanding. It's not easy for them to be taken from the surroundings, job, routine, etc. that they've known their entire lives and be told what to eat, when, what to do with their spare time, no longer the man of the house, when to go to bed etc.
Sorry, I'm rambling a bit.
Anyway, I think he might just be as simple as missing his wife (sorry for your loss).
