Did many of you have difficult time being diagnosed with FMS and obtaining a good overall treatment plan? Do you have doctors who do believe in you, who care, listen and empathize with your condition.
It took so long and so many doctors to FINALLY initally be diagnosed (and then the other varied diagnoses crossed wires to complicate life more). When I was given the initial diagnoss of Fibro I was sooooooo relieved and then researching and learning all of its symptoms and the contentions of doctors that come with a FMS diagnoses then caused me anxiety. Sigh.
I was diagnosed in summer of 2000 after nearly 3 yrs of misinformed doctors. My heart goes out to each of you fellow FMS sufferers and my hope is for doctors to become more informed re the care and treatment of FMS/CFS overall.
with thanks new friends,,,

Oh, yeah. It took 5-6 years for me to get a FMS diagnosis. I started with Hypothroidism which we started to treat, but then 2-3 years into that treatment I still felt rotten and was sick all the time. I had to push my Internal Medicine doctor to keep looking and had to shed a few tears in front of her and hope that she would somehow sense my desperation and frustration. (Also, I think having a female doctor helped me). Her nurse finally mentioned Fibro to me for the first time and we started down that road. My Internist first prescibed my drugs and then after 6-12 months I went to a Rheumotologist that was just fantastic and he helped me get adjusted to a new lifestyle and deal with the pain/fatigue management. I also had a sleep study done that confirmed the fibro. I think I had a fairly easy diagnosis road when I listen to all of the stories on this site.

I was diagosis a long time ago. My new dr right now is great. I keep bring in articles for her to read and stay updated. That is my only advise I give to people. Its up to you to keep your dr informed. With so many illnesses out there, I think its hard for them to keep up with everything. After all they are only human

I can count 4 times this year when I Went out of my way to make sure a "friend" felt good on their birthday, especially if they got left hanging. Its early in the...
