Yikes, did I mess up! Aside from having only 4 hours of sleep (my right shoulder jams up something fierce since my shattered arm six months ago)...
I have PTSD therapy today AND PHysical Therapy. Right from one to the other.
No nation is immune from having its cuisine (or just everyday eating habits) criticized.
So what do people look at in the US, and think, "OMG, WHY?!"
Turns out... Corn dogs (I'm with 'em on that) and "ambrosia" (canned fruit arranged atop more canned fruit, which is mixed with either mayonaisse or mini-marshmallows or even cottage cheese or Cool Whip, and yes, I just threw up in my brain thinking of that)...
Antoher puzzlers to non-US residents (and to me) is "Miracle Whip" the not-mayonaisse mayonaisse. I've literally gagged on that stuff. I loathe it.
Of course, in Europe, there's an adoration of Nutella --- hazlenut, sugar and a bit of cocoa powder --- that baffles me, too. I've tried Nutella. Yuck. My sweet tooth screamed for mercy. Made by the same people who give you the fancy Ferrero ROcher truffles every Chrsitmas.
And in the UK, they eat "blood pudding", which really is what it sounds like. In Poland, duck blood soup. Waste not want not! Europeans tend to eat all organs (including calf brains in France), and even the feet (yep, the feet) of pigs (no joke).
I'm already a vegetarian. Organ meat? No. Just... not even. No. I'd sooner eat tree grubs.
If you want Cheetos in Europe, good luck, pal. Aside from towns near US military bases, that is. And even then, good luck. Not sure CHeetos count as food,a ctually, but...
That said, food tastes vary so wildly from one person to another, let alone one region to antoher, that it's pretty hard to just smack down "And this is what all of them/most of them like/hate".
Today in 1941, in one of the greatest ironic speeches of all time, Adolf Hitler said Russia would "never rise again." The Nazi regime went down in 1945. The Soviet Union/Russian power... uh... well, let's call it gone at 1991 insofar as Soviet Russia goes.
On which note, in 1990, th eBerlin Wall was finally dismantled, officially "ending" the era of a divided Germany from the Cold War era.
And i need to grab food and such because I'm worn to a crisp. yesterday was all invasions and noise and noise and noise and... Ugh. I was *this* close to just moving into a hotel and to heck with this adult home ownership stuff. Sadly, nobody would take the cats, too. Alas.
May you have a Thursday that is gentle and giving!
