and odd trivia
the iconic mapel tree of US Main Street is actually imported from Norway. The Norway maple edges out the sugar maple native to the Americas and impinges on our maple syrup. Vote for syrup!
Zebra mussels are invasive tiny mollusks that have made it clear inland to Idaho. Weird but true: They like outflow pipes, where water is warmer, and actually improve water quality despite being invasive little SOBs who clog aforesaid pipes and reduce habitat for native species. So weirdly good-bad. (They filter out bad algae as well as the good, alas.)
Joke of the day: What is the difference between a physiotherapist and a terrorist? You can reason with the terrorist. (Hey, I've had those PTs!)
Oddest ever euphemism for sex Ive ever encountered: "Shake the sheets" (without music wink wink). The shaking out of cloth was a reference to a dance of medieval times, and ended up a euphemism for sex in the Renaissance British regions.
Of course, there's getting your corn ground, haul one's ashes (a brief early 1900s term that also meant beating someone up, thus its fall into disuse on all counts), making whoopee (no relation to whoopee cushions, alas), and the ultimate Victorian "horizontal refreshment"!
OK, wow, no idea where that came from except i need way more sleep
And cat ears have over 30 muscles, all of which ignore humans.
Absolute agony here, so keeping it brief. Forget it. (Well, I meant another eff word but...)Hugs and support. Just gonna be a long hot rotten day here, so...CUteness required...
I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia earlier this month (May) and it really sucks. I have been in so much pain. It is so stressful dealing with another health problem for me. I hope these new meds work because this is really annoying and hard to deal with.
