Guys, that's a joke. You there? LOL, I know, you're not as chatty, it's okay.
Well, in two weeks it's US Thanksgiving. I'm giving thanks I made it this far through 2020 but we'll see if I still feel that way?
Today in 1859, Jules Leotard debuted the first flying trapeze act in Paris. He also, yes, is the guy after whom we named the leotard... which he designed originally. He called it a maillot. It was named leotard long after his death, with the first attestation in 1886. He died in 1870 of some disease, but it could've been anything from smallpox to typhus to who knows what. He was not yet 30 years old.
Keeping up a Leo theme by accident, today was the witnessing of the Leonid meteor showers of 1799, which had reached a 33-year-cycle peak. A Leonid "storm" year can add up to 13 tons of meteorite particles (meteorite once it hits the ground; meteor in air) to the earth's "weight". Alas, Jupiter will disrupt the particle path (long story) and we'll probably stop seeing the mega-years for Leonids. *sigh* They are named that, btw, b/c they seem to come from the constellation Leo. In fact, they're related to the Tempel-Tuttle comet, which shows up, yes, every 33 years. :-) Earth passes through the tail of particles left as the comet went by, and ZING! Sky show! I saw awesome ones in 2001. :-)
Today in 1927, Leon (I swear I didn't paln this, it is literally all on this date in history stuff!) Trotsky saw JOseph Stalin take undisputed power over Russia, altho' we know this in retrospect; on the day, all Trotsky knew was that he'd been expelled from the Party, for being not Stalin enough. Others capitulated; he didn't. In 1929 he was exiled; in 1940, while living in Mexico, he was murdered by ice axe.
LOVE TO ALL! HUGS TO ALL!
Hello, all! :-) How's everyone today? I'm on antibiotics with an appointment for poking and prodding even more next week. Whee! BUT...Did you know that women who get a Bartholin gland cyst almost always get it on one side only? Rarely do you get both at once. This is good, btw, given that these things are at a *delicate* area to say the least. Gentlemen, you don't have 'em. You're free of this...
What's your top misery today?Mine? I have what I pray is "only" a Bartholin cyst. Ladies, if you don't know what that is yet, I pray you never do.Gentlemen, you can't get it. I am glad for you.So I'm off to the doc in a short bit ---- okay, I had to settle for the Nurse Practitioner Du Jour, but this is nasty ---- so... Get out those Monday miseries! Out out! Shoo! Begone, misery! (Did it...
