Good morning! And thank goodness for electricity! We have electric for heat, so yesterday got a wee bit nippy for a while when our power was out-on-out-on-out-out-maybe-out-on. Ice on trees = issues anyway, but then there was the Usual Suspect Transformer. Again. Just. Install. New. One. OMG. Oh wait, they did. Never mind. I swear, that is the most reasily "stressed" transformer in the history of residential distribution...
Crap, turned into my dad for a second. OK, I'm back.
Fun fact: My cat Dahlia, tho' smaller of the two, can jump high enough to reach light switches. Not on purpose (I hope). Still. Dang. Not bad for a little furball. She's also learning to run to get a treat, instead of expecting it to appear. This is all to keep her in good shape, btw.
Today it is already all melted and Hubby is off to see the surgeon about his eyelid and stitches and stuff. Follow-up only. Whew. And I get to deal with my mother needing her carpets cleaned and the fact she won't open teh door for the guy (she has already said) so... Thanks, Ma, love you too, and you're welcome for Hubby calling in favors to get a carpet cleaner on such short notice. NO I AM NOT USING A RENTED CARPET CLEANER MYSELF. I can't lift my right arm as is after last weekend's fun little "it only needs 15 minutes" turned into 2 1/2 hours of filth-scrubbing, lifting, etc. Mom can bloody well pay for a pro job, it's cheaper than my needing X-rays.
Someone is now thinking, "That's harsh..." Meet my mom post-tumor. Trust me. She is not the Mom of Leo's Stories of the past. She's... Well, if you put a pipe through someone's frontal lobes and they survived, they'd have serious issues. Mom's tumor was a lot like a pipe in the head that way. For more on the first case that made the case for frontal lobe involvement in personality (WARNING: Graphic images)... https://www.bbc.com/news/health-12649555
For a decent but rather sad read on the effects of medical practice of frontal lobotomies and its effects on people as humans not patients: https://sciencebasedmedicine.org/frontal-lobotomy-zombies-created-by-one-of-medicines-greatest-mistakes/
Rosemary Kennedy, sister of the famed JFK, RFK, Ted, and so forth, was given a frontal lobotomy at age 23, and it left her permanently disabled. She was the first of that brood of siblings to die of natural causes. (Plane crashes and assasinations, etc.) Her condition was partially responsible for Eunice Kennedy Shriver (her sister) to found the Special Olympics.
How'd I get on this? Oh. Mom. OK. Mom's frontal lobe is scarred temple to temple, so it's like... wow... Anyway... Yeah...
Off to thaw my feet and gird for battle with Mom. OK, to unlcok her door and let her know she has 15 minutes to dress and go to the lobby to complain about me... Same diff, really. I try to be glib, but ouch in the feels, folks. This is ouchie in the feels.
A fun and unfrozen Friday to all! :-)
Happy (insert your holy celebration) weekend, all!So, the lawyer basically said that since I have no maiming or death (yep, the dead always call lawyers) that the hospital system is off the hook for letting me slide through so many cracks and so forth. Lesson learned. Your life is worthless if you can't prove worth. Got it.I got 2/3 way through making choc chip cookie dough before I had to ask...
Hey everyone. Today is Good Friday, for those who celebrate. For others, it's a paid holiday. For me, it probably means people will be calling all day because they have the day off and they waited until it was convenient for them to deal with a medical issue. I'm not feeling well today, I had a lot of trouble sleeping last night and when I finally did fall asleep I had nightmares. Not sure...
