Happy Friday, fibro folks!
Well, I slept till 7! But fell asleep at 3. Hmm... Silly brain hamsters were chasing around and my mental cat wasn't around to tame them. PMS, PTSD, and that back thing... Oh yeah,g ood times without hot-humid-anti-fibro weather. Yech. Still.... Staying busy in little ways. Sketching, doing micro-stretches, etc.
Can't bend down to use a dustpan anymore. I was so happy back in 2014 when, 3 years after injruy, I could do that! Losing that seems huger than it really is, I know, but... ARGH. See physio/pain doc late Tuesday next week, so here's hoping, right?
So the Israelis sent a spacecraft to the moon and it crashed, releasing... Tardigrades. If you've been around here a while, you've heard me go off abou tthese tiny, ugly, indestructible little buggers. Yep. Tardigrades. On the moon. This is how horror movies start, y'all. Like in 20 years... Eep? HOpefully, tardigrades do die in space after a while, but we've seen that they don'td ie right away in the vacuum, or from cosmic radiation, or... well, heck, anything! And now they're on the m oon. Us, no. Tardigrades, yes.
On the other hand... Hey, talk about studying tardigrades on the moon! Woot!
Happy birthday to American sorta-icon Smokey the Bear! Createdc today in 1944 by the Forest Service and the Wartime whatever-it-was to help peopel be aware that only they could stop forest fires! (Lumber being a valuable wartime commodity...)
In 1975, the New Orleans Superdome opened up and hosted an exhibition game between the Saints of New Orleans and the Houston Oilers. Interesting tidbit: It's on fairly high ground, and thus became a refuge during the flooding of 2005's Hurricane Katrina, but it's estimated that, should New Orleans' levees fail as badly as could be? You better have nosebleed seats or already be on I-10 and outta town. *sigh* The Superdome is, at its ground level, only about a meter above sea level. The highest points in New Orleans (without adding in building height) are around 20 feet or 6 meters above sea level.
New Orleans, btw, has a below-sea-level "elevation" of about 2 meters. yep.
That said, the loewst "high point" of any state belongs to Florida, to no one's surprise whatsoeve rif you think about it.
Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, is about four meters below sea level at its lowest. Using dikes, dunes, and canals, the Dutch have kept the city out of the wet (mostly).
BTW, Illinois, Florida, North Dakota, Louisiana and Minnesota are *all* flatter than the presumed-flat-as-a-pancake US State of Kansas. I personally would've voted INdiana, but hey,w hat do I know?...
And I lost my train of thought at the station, sooo... Have a good one, all!
I went to get more trigger point injections in my neck and shoulders. The doctor did more this time than he did last time. After the injections, My arms shoulders and neck have been sore for days, which is normal. But the problem is that I think the shots aggravated the peripheral neuropathy that I have in my arms and hands. Iimmediately after the shots the neuropathy, the pain, the numbness,...
Good morning! And it's been morning for me for a while. Alas.Four hours of sleep. Down at midnight (finally! the muscle relaxant kicked in and my back unkinked!)... and up when it wore off. Four hours. Ping! I see the doc again ASAP, but ASAP means "stand by for his phone call and run out door". Oh boy... As it's the weekend, I predict I will need another round of scar-scanning and so forth....
