I use it at doctors and have been researching some on line too. I posted something here about two weeks ago and there were a few good replies.
I think you get what you pay for. I was looking at some that get nerve and muscle.
Let me know if you come across anything that works. I am sure I will keep looking for a while. But I really need to get away from pain meds.

ive used them off and own since 1981. i need supplies for mine now.they do help. got me thru some real bad times.

I haven't tried one, bu I'd beinterested in hearing from those who have. If they really make a differenc, it would be great to have.

It didn't work with me as the doctor left it on too long. It almost burned holes in my skin and I had these red circles for 2 days afterwards! Really fun to explain that one away! I'm sure some people thought I was abducted by aliens or something! ROFL

I'd like to try one in my home, where hubby can help me move the cups (or whatever they're called) around.

tens means Transcutanious Nerve Stimulation
TNS commonly referred to as TENS, it is a little machine thats battery operated, it looks like an old fashioned personal stereo! It has 2 connectors and four long wires with connectors at the other end, onto these are attached pads with a rubberised backing, gel is applied to this and it is then taped to the skin. There are controls inside and they are linked to the pads, u can choose different electrical impulse delivery - the object of the exercise is to deliver electrical "shocks" to the painful area and thereby controlling the pain.. I have used it I own one. I use it when the pain is unbearable

I have a unit caller SolTens... it is a hand held unit about the size of a pair of scissors. Battery operated, but will bring you out of your set if on high. Place a strop around your wrist and push a button, as you move it over the area of pain it finds the nerve ends, signals you and you can turn it on for controlled time and power. Awesome little unit. You may need someone to run it for certain areas on back that you can not reach, but really pinpoints the spot.

I have a tens unit. Sometimes it works really well and sometimes I could throw it away! LOL. I guess it just depends on the pain you are trying to ease....who knows! I would consider getting one. My insurance paid for mine $800.00. If you can go that route it would be best. I got mine from my physical therapist. Hope it works out for you...Sherri

My chiropractor uses one on me. It's an awesome little thing! It helps loosen me up when I'm too tense for her to adjust me. It helps for at least two hours after treatment for me!

It helps with my back pain. But not with any other body parts. But I'd never give it up.

I had a booth at a state fair and the guy across from me was selling the tens unit. Actually there were three booths selling them in the building I was in. My husband talked me into going over and trying one. To me it felt like a mini massage and did seem to help my neck. I bought one and lately the tender points around my knee area have been causing pain in my upper legs. I use the unit on this area and it does seem to be helping.

Hopefully, it will help. If I can just get several things going for me that help a little, maybe going back to work would be bearable.

The guy I bought mine from said he sells them online for around $400 but another lady there said she sell hers for $800, the difference was hers included a pair of sandal type shoes for the feet and a wand that you could use on your face. The guy I bought mine from was selling them for $199.
He goes around to different fairs and sets up.
