After asking several doctors to test my thyroid over the years, and all my lab work all coming up perfect. Just this past year I asked my GP & he said I was well within normal limits & he didn't feel comfortable prescribing thyroid meds, I didn't need them. At my last dr visit, the dr who put me on the neurontin did labwork. He called this morning & said my thyroid level was a little low & he suggested a low dose of synthroid. So, now I will try adding that to my cocktail, and maybe, just MAYBE, it will help with my fatigue.
I couldn't help but think of the book I read though, Parting the Fog. She was in almost my identical position, was so excited to finally have an answer for her fatigue, and the pills didn't make her feel any different. They DID raise her thyroid to normal levels, but she didn't feel any different. I'm hoping I will feel a difference. Fingers crossed. :)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Good luck with your new meds. I'll be rooting for you.
Unfortunately, to doctors, Sythroid (synthetic thyroid) is ALWAYS the answer, but it probably won't help with the fatigue. IT didn't me. I ended up so bad after 9 yrs. my kids were pushing me up the stairs after only being up for 1 hour a day and having to be pushed back into the bed. It was ridiculous.
I made a switch to NATURAL supplemental thyroid and adrenal gland supplement. Within 3 weeks I was completely normal. Just my experience. I wouldn't get back on Synthroid if you paid me. Just my two cents.
This is a website about women's bone health. Low Vitamin D levels may contribute to muscle pain. http://science.education.nih.gov/Supplements/NIH6/Bone/guide/nih_looking-good.pdf
Good luck! I'm continuing to research this and I will make a post with websites when I discover more.
After that I got mono and fibro..sigh.. I haven't mowed the lawn since.

Now, as far as the question about hashimoto's. If I had that, wouldn't my thyroid levels be way out of line? From the way the dr talked, my levels were only slightly out of line. I don't know, it's one more thing to ask my doctor about.
I've always thought that I must have had an auto-immune issue, because I've always had problems with getting sick with everything, and I've had so many health issues. It'd be nice if there was some good reason, some name I could put to it, some excuse I could trot out for the critics, skeptics & unsympathetic folks who gossip about why I'm never involved at my son's school anymore. Why I don't make most field trips, why I don't volunteer, etc, etc. *Especially* since I'm a stay at home mom, I should have all kinds of free time & be involved in everything, yadda, yadda, yadda. No, nobody ever says anything to my face about it. I see the looks occasionally; my SIL told me last year when my son was playing basketball for Upward Bound, that she had been asked by one or two people if my husband & I had separated or divorced, because they never saw ME at the practices or games. Nope, that doesn't put any pressure on me, not at all. Just what I need to worry about on top of everything else, huh? Anyways, I went off on a rant there. Don't know what brought that all up.
