I remember some one posting questions to ask their doctor several weeks ago. I know I copied the questions and saved them somewhere in my computer but I simply can't find them now. It's all that fog clouding my brain!
Can anyone out there help me find that post or could the person who posted those questions please post them again? I remember them being some of the best questions and darned if I can remember even one of them right now.
Thanks!

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I thought it was quite useful and am posting the questions here. wistful1347 was the original author and I want to thank her for these questions. I intend to use several of them in my search for a new doctor.
**********
I'm thinking about asking my existing (& future) PCM & specialists these questions.
What do you think? I would welcome any feedback & additional questions.
1. Do you think FM is a legitimate disease/ disorder?
If I dont like the answer to this question, then I politely thank Dr. Dick (or Dickess) and leave. Sorry, but that's my new name for all docs until they earn my respect by treating me w/respect.
If I'm happy w/his/her answer, then I'll ask these (not necessarily in this order)
2. Most drs. size up a patient w/in the first few minutes. What have you decided about me? And are you willing to reconsider your analysis? (since misunderstandings & miscommunication happen all the time)
3.What is your philosophy on equal dr/patient participation & decision making when it comes to my treatment plan?
4.How much time do you allow for each patient?
5.Do you just treat symptoms, or do you look for the root cause?
6.Will you design a treatment plan based on my symptoms alone, or on me as a whole person who has these symptoms?
7. Who knows my body best, you or me? And will you respect what I say about my body?
8. How much research have you done re: FM (or other disease)?
9.Are you willing to review information I bring you to see if it we might use it in conjunction w/my treatment?
10.Are you willing to do additional research in order to provide me with the most effective treatment?
11.If not, then to whom would you send your spouse if s/he had these symptoms?
12.What is your philosophy on pain management?
13.Are you willing to explore alternative treatments and support me in trying some in order to avoid the side effects of conventional treatment?
14. Are you willing to think out of the box when it comes to my treatment plan?
15.How much research are you willing to do when it comes to prescribing drugs? (i.e. interaction w/other drugs & supplements Im already taking, and specifically how it might affect me in terms of my FM)
Finally a suggestion regarding surgery:
If you are having surgery, call or go by the hosp where you will have the surgery and ask to speak w/the or nurses. Ask them if their mother, sister, father, etc. had to have your surgery, which surgeon would they want & why.
lsmith, thank you for the additional questions. I would NEVER be able to think of these myself, and they are all very good. I get into the doc, and just sit there and don't remember anything I wanted to say or needed to know before going in. I usually make a list, but these are things brought up that are basically in the back of my mind, and you have put them into eloquent wording for me! I cannot thank you enough!!!
Hugs to everyone....thanks for this forum, topic, website and FRIENDS!!
