I have had trouble with my memory for at least 10 years. I forget events, vacations, conversations - things I should remember. My girls would feel very hurt when I couldn't remember something very important to them and my husband would get angry. Now when somebody says don't you remember? I just say no - I have trouble with my memory - sorry. The family has slowly come to grips with it, they no longer give me a hard time about it.
As far as strangers, I tell them I forgot. But I don't explain why. There are so many people who know nothing about fibro - they've never even heard of it, so I don't bother.
I wish I knew what I could do to clear the fog and improve my memory. I tried Gingko Biloba years ago, but I can't even remember if it helped! I know I do better when I sleep well (doesn't happen a lot) and I know that pain meds can cause fog and memory problems, so that is a double whammy. I also read a paper that suggested that asparatame (Equal) can cause all kinds of side effects in people who are sensitive to it so I stopped using it for 6 months just in case - no difference - except I gained a few pounds!
I have learned to write everything down and only use one central date book, so that I don't have to look in a zillion places for information. If anyone has any additional ideas or tips for managing the fog I'd could really use some help! Thanks...Jilly

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
They know I can't remember things so they have learned to call and remind me of important things.
Also, I will ask a question and forget I asked! Let alone what the answer was!
i have also noticed i find it hard to type, remembering words and in what order to spell them. Its almost like i became dyslexic with my spelling and have to keep correcting myself.
i'm now taking gabapentin for the pain and have noticed i have been alot worse with my memory the last few days, i hope this wears off as i get used to the tablets.
