Ok, I know FMS causes you to have problems with bright light sometimes. I've always worn glasses until I had LASIK surgery 2 yrs ago, and the lasik evidently can heighten your sensitivity as well. Just recently though I started really having issues with it. I walk thru the house turning lights off everywhere I go. (Hey, at least my electric bill should go down!) It just really aggravates my eyes, makes them hurt, makes my headaches worse, etc. So here's my big problem....I LOVE to read. I've been a huge reader all my life. As a kid, I would read a book a day. (Oh, to have that kind of time nowadays!) But, when I sit on my couch at night & want to read, I don't know how to do it. I turn on the overhead light & it's way too bright. I turn on the lamp across the room & it's not bright enough. I have a reading light in the ceiling over my bed which is pretty good, but I can never find a comfy reading position in bed anymore. Plus, I'd keep hubby up, he's a morning person, I'm a night person. Anyone have any luck with the book reader lights, or anything else that I've just not thought of. Even now, I have my overhead spot lights on, but way dim, and they still hurt. I can see the candle on the table out of the corner of my eye, and the flame kind of bothers me a little.
I guess I'm just being overly sensitive & whiney lately. It just seems like all of a sudden all of my problems have doubled. Whoever said FMS was not a progressive disease needs to have their head examined! I know, they're talking about progressive damage to the body, but they need to find a new way to say it, so people realize that our pain *does* get worse over time. At least it sure seems that way to me. Don't mind me, I'm just having my own little pity party today, while I lay on the couch & do nothing. :)

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I work for a optometrist office and we see people all the time that two years after lasik surgery start having problems with their vision. Often they need a prescription to adjust their vision even though it is not usually as strong as it was before the lasik. I would recommend a check up as this can cause your eyes to strain and t hat will make you more sensitive to lights.
It could also be dry eye that can also be treated. Dry eyes can cause light sensitivity
I hope this helps.

I guess I need to go see the eye dr. Hopefully if my vision has changed, the stigmatism will still be gone. You don't know about that, do you? I always had trouble with contacts because I had a severe astigmatism in one eye, so they had to special order my contacts & then they'd still bother my eyes.
Hopefully it's not the lasik. My brother in law has had his surgery for about 10 yrs now & doesn't need glasses...his wife though got hers done about the same time as me, and needs reading glasses now. I could deal with it if it's just reading glasses. :) Actually, I suppose I can deal with any of the options, I'd just be a little more put out over them. LOL
If they corrected your astimagtism it still may come back but it would most likely be a lot less. Contacts have changed dramactically in the last two years. They now have new materials that allow a lot more oxygen into the eyes. They even make them for astigmatism. I have bi-focal glasses and contacts. I find them great and none can tell they have a bifocal as I have progresive lens where the lens gradually hange prescription. You could always try mono vision (one eye distance/one eye near) in contacts or actual bi focal contacts. Ask your eye doctor for recommendations if you need anything at all. It may just be dry eyes. Dry eyes can also causes blurriness.

Sorry you are having these problems. This may sound silly, but it works for me. I ordered a little "miners" typr light and it works great. Just enough light to cover the page and no glare. You can get them online from crafy vendors or maybe in Michael's or Joann's stores. Good luck. Gebtle Hug to you, Sue
