I've been reading the chronic pain board and this board for about , oh heck, I don't know maybe 2 months. A little fog here a little fog there and time becomes as wispy as the fog itself.
Anyway, I wonder what seperates us on these two boards, besides the word "fibromyalgia"? I think it might be interesting to see how many of us have pain from other illnesses, or accidents; or what percentage of us just "came down" with fibro.
In my case it would look like this:
1984 whiplash had to change career
1994 botched colon resection following years of undiagnosed infection and seepage in a divirticuli gone wild.
1996 whiplash
1994 - 2003 Intense stress and horrendous losses emotionally; diagnosed with diabetes
2003 - 2005 Auto immune hepatitis
Heart Disease/open heart surgery
now: recovery and remission even in a time of major health issues.
I was diagnosed with fibro in 1996
Do any of you want to put this together, using your history? In this format?
I think knowing our own history as a group would give us a perspective on where we fit in the scheme of fibro world. And it might also give someone a terrific start on a reasearch project.
Or am I full of doo-doo?

Many people who have Fibro belong to CP but I don't think it is the reverse. Fibro has special problems that those of us who don't have don't experience and sometimes have difficulty in understanding, though I am sure we all try.
Hope that helps a bit to clarify things.
doo-doo.
No harm, no foul?
I think by looking at your history, you're was definitely caused by so much trama, physical and emotional, to the body in such a short period of time, but I don't think that was one of your questions.
I'm a member of the CP board altho I never have time to go there. I mainly hop between the fibro and depression boards and that's it. I just don't have time for all the others.
For me personally, I have NO IDEA what my "trigger" for fibro was. Unless it was just general stress from life. I wasn't in any major accidents, no major traumas, no sugeries, nothing. It's weird. I did however have two babies, back to back, had a miscarriage a few years later, then had two more back to back. That's a lot of stress. I won't even get into stress from family issues. So if anything caused it, I guess it would be from having so many children so close together, and being so young when I did???? Thing is, lots of women do that. So I don't get it. But, I am sure I carry the gene for it, as my Grandmother had all the symptoms and we practically live identical lives. So, that's all I can figure.
Hope this gives you some sort of info you were looking for.

2006 off of meds for another problem sent my body all a whack. Massive period after meds gone. My kids had to stay with family till I got myself together. I lost one due to family issues. Got married, had issues with neighbors, school full time, dealing with family stress because of all that was happening. Fibro kicked in... so yep i think it was stress emotional mental and eventually physical that kicked in my fibro.
i hope that helps
It is a good info. site!!!!!!!
Fibro started right after and has worsened through the years. I also have major depression, anxiety and several other diseases that cause pain and fatigue. I have muscle weakness in both legs and arms & exercise is difficult, some days impossible so I am also overweight.
It is fog and all over pain and mentally tired.
That is just my two cents. I visited that board but couldn't relate.
Fibro is in a class all it's own unfortunately. I think I like this board because I can relate to everyone so well. Normies don't and never will.
Good topic! Your not full of doo doo...

I don't want to try to guess if the two (chronic pain caused by other things or trauma) are related, because I'll never really know and it won't change a thing.
I do know that my symptoms came on to this degree after an automobile accident.
I do believe that it's an autoimmune thing, and that we are predisposed, and something triggers it.
Does this help?

I am considered a TYPICAL Endocrine Patient because, I have numerous medical issues stemming directly to the system..
Auto Immune is a key becasue it indicates your immune system is on the weak side and cannot fight off infections;
Go to any Endocrine Site and you will soon find out just how many medical issues are part of the any one of the glands of the endocrine system.
Take Care...
