Has anyone had experience with trying to go to a new pain management doctor (Anesthesiologist) and was turned down?
i have a referral from my issruance, but when i tried to make an appointment, they said this doctor couldn't help me and i needed to find another one. when i called another one, they said they would have to review my medical records before they would be able to say whether or not they could treat me.
SInce when have doctors started choosing patients rather than the other way around?

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I am now on the hunt for another doc that treats fibro patients.
Yes, I agree with D2, but besides that, I too encountered this as well. I was frustrated, but I think it is a way for them to be sure that you are a legitimate pain patient, and not just a drug seeker. If they have 7 yrs. worth of records, and there's no mention from other docs in there repeatedly that they think you're seeking drugs, then they know you are legit, and will see you. I can understand this. The point is, if they can help you, they will.
Like I said, I too had to do the whole "give them my records" thing before they would even talk about making an appt. But in the long run, it was best, I was given an appt., rather quickly, and she was the doc who changed my life. She's the only doc who has EVER taken my pain seriously, and treated me with the serious drugs I NEED to function. So now I am almost pain free. So, for me, it was worth it. But that's just my two cents. Hope you find one, because some of them are amazing. But there are some that are just as bad as any other of the morons we have already seen. But some of them do see alot of fibro patients and understand our pain. That's the key. Ask ahead of time if they see many FM patients. If they don't, move on, even if they want to see you. They won't understand. Good luck!
I love my pain clinic doctor. She treats me like a human being.
Marilyn, pain clinics are new in my area. It was just in the last 5 years they went in.
