not sure if you know or not but dad lives in NE so the mall shooting as been in local as well as Omaha paper. One of the men killed had just celebrated his 40th wedding anniversary, he and his wife were caught in the alcove by the elevator on the 3rd floor (where gunman entered to from elevator) of Van Mahrs. It was first reported that he and his wife hid behind chairs and that while she was not visible he was and thats how he got shot. In todays Omaha World Herald there is different story. The gunman came off the elevator and immediatly opened fire hitting a 25 year old sales clerk from the childrens department. He then shot and killed 6 more, this elderly grandfather stepped out from behind the chair he was hiding behind and came face to face with the shooter. The shooter shot him and then took his own life. There was alot of unspent ammunition found on the gun man and the police are now saying that this man who gave up his life saved countless others by doing what he did. This mans family tho I am sure are missing the hell out of their husband, father and grandfather today should be so very proud of him as not many would do what he did.
