You know its funny. This time of year everyone is always laughing and smiling and full of joy. Most of the time that is the way I am. But for some reason, this year, i have the holiday blues. I know the reasons why but for some reasons I can't shake it. I know I will eventualy get over it. Christmas is my favorite time of year. But it seems like we all anticipate and get prepared for holidays so far in advanced and we get so stressed out that when it is finally over, there is a major let down. Kind of anticlimatic so to speak. Sighs, does that make sense? Kind of like having something you want so close within your reach that you actually believe you are going to get it. Then at the last second it gets taken away. Am I crazy?
What do you do to shake the holiday blues, if you get them?
I love you all. I hope you all had a good and safe and happy Thanksgiving.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Chrimbo is British slang for Christmas.
I fully understand what you mean. Christmas seems to start earlier and earlier, there is a huge build up to it then.. boom.. it kinda falls flat.
I tend to stress out too and it makes me flare.. so I try to stay relaxed and enjoy it as much as I can for my little grandchildren's' sake.
The look of wonder on their faces Christmas morning makes it all worthwhile.
Gentle hugs

Now, as grown-ups, you just don't get that excited by unwrapping a box of candy or a pair of gloves. Don't get me wrong, they're nice & I love presents...but it's not the same as it is for kids. For me, the fun of Christmas morning is just watching the kids open their presents, and seeing the joy in their eyes. Of course, after they open their presents, then you have to clean up all the wrapping paper & bows, etc.
The holidays are one of the worst times for depression. Documented fact. Grown ups get depressed around the holidays. There's so much to do, and if you don't have family you feel more alone. For me, it's just that rush of trying to get all the presents bought, the stress of trying to find money for presents. I used to LOVE decorating for Christmas, my tree should be up by now. I set it up Thanksgiving night. I still haven't cleared out the corner for the tree or dragged up the decorations. I'm hoping my stepdaughters will decorate for me today. So yes, I know what you mean. I try to enjoy the kids & their excitement, I love Christmas music, I'll turn on some music, light some pretty smelling candles. I also live by lists.
Try to relax & enjoy some Christmas lights, and don't force yourself to push too hard. We just can't do marathon shopping anymore. :)
I think Helen offered that Lostinpain is suffering. There's a place to start right here. I'm not trying to take your pain and make it seem like it's nothing, DON'T GET ME WRONG! I'm just trying to help.
I am struggling with this too, everyday. IT's like "what's the point of being happy!?!". But there is a point...there are people out 'there' that need you, me and Vonny and everybody else!!!
So, try it....it may work! I will try it too!!!
Love and hugs!
