I was referred by family doctor to see and ENT specialist regarding nodules on my thyroid. The specialists scheduled a biopsy for me this coming Tuesday. During the appt with him he told me I need to talk to my family Doctor about referring me to someone about Fibromyalgia. . I am 43 and have dealt with back ,neck, joint pain, muscular problems, nerve damage since my early 20"s.I have seen many specialist over the years for this problem. I was told 5 years ago every disc in my neck were bad but two. They could do surgery but eventually I would not be able turn my head. So forget that. Then they said my spinal cord was to long and they could a procedure to clip that so I would have so much nerve pain. He said I had a birth defect where my spinl cord is too long. This was coming from a neurosurgeon. So I got a 2nd opinion from a neurologist she said she didn't see the birth defect. So all these years I have just dealt with the pain. The doctors try to give me strong medication for pain but I turn it down. I can't run a business being medicated and feeling lethargic.I just finally decided it was working my butt off all these years that has caused all of this damage to my body. For years they would tell me you need physical therapy have done that so many times never helped. The past 20 yrs I was taking ibuprofren like crazy now I have stomach bleeding. So now I take nothing. Last week I hear for the first time I think you have fibromyalgia. So sorry for the long post but had so many doctors give me differant answers and tell me new problems with my health. This is the first time a doctor mention the word Fibromyalgia. Can I ask you who you think is better to diagnose and treat fibromyalgia? Again sorry for the long post
