Hey gals. I've got a couple of questions but about the same subject.
I've been very tired lately. I mean, tired! And that is NOT normal for me. I have insomnia, and usually get about 3-4 hours sleep a night, and function just fine on it. Even resting during the day, I can't sleep, cuz I'm never tired. But now all of the sudden, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Two things. First, about the time I started getting drowsy, I started taking Cymbalta. Now, I've heard from friends on here, that supposedly Cymbalta has the OPPOSITE effect. That is keeps you awake. I started taking it in the daytime, and noticed I was getting so, so sleepy, so that's why I changed my dosing time to later in the afternoon. I'm trying to find the right time where it will help me sleep, but not layover into the next day.
So my question is, has anyone else had drowsiness with Cymbalta, or does it usually cause you to be awake. I know of ONE person who has had this reaction, but need to know if it's more common than that.
Now, if it's NOT the Cymbalta, my second question is, maybe it's CFS? So, second question is, how many of you were diagnosed with Fibro, and then years later, the Fatigue hit? I know I've heard a few say it happened with them like that, but I need to know how common that is.
Thanks in advance, I know you all are going to be so helpful as usual.
Hope I'm awake for the answers...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

I used to take Cymbalta, and I liked the results. It gave me energy, and helped with pain, depression and anxiety. My Dr. here in NY put me on Effexor and it doesn't work as well.
I started feeling very, very fatigued, running low grade fevers, swollen glands in my neck and a slight sore throat and having more pain than usual, this past summer. It comes and goes, depends on my stress level I guess. I haven't been told I have CFS, but I have alot of the symptoms.
I haven't tried Cymbalta and I'm sure that you will get good answers from others, but I never question weird drug reactions with this illness.
As for whether you are sliding over to the CFS pendulum, I don't see why that might not happen. I did the opposite. Almost all CFS and then FM crept in. However the sleepiness is not necessarily a CFS symptom at all. In fact, most peeps including me don't sleep, have insomnia, no sleepign during the day, yada, yada, same old, same old.
I would really wonder about a drug reaction or how is your thyroid???? That is famous for kicking out on us too.
Now more than ever, I think it's the Cymbalta, because I moseied on over to the treatment area, and checked out what other's had to say. Some had insomnia from the med, but most had fatigue. So I'm rather convinced that the Cymbalta is probably the root cause. I'll bring it up at my next appt. IF it's still bothering me. Odd thing is, I'm only on 30mg. a day. I mean, wow, how tired am I gonna be when she ups me to 60 or 90 mg.??? I'm gonna pass out! LOL!
I'll try to give ya'll warnin'!
Could be folic acid deficiency. I'm on methotrexate (cancer med, for my CTD), stops progress to Lupus or RA, and the doc was concerned about my folic acid. She wanted me supplementing, but oh, another pill! But, hmm, need to think about that one! Never thought it could be the folic acid! Or b-vitamins either. Hmm hmm hmmm!
Staci, you sweetie, you make me blush! Thanks hon! Honestly!
I don't think it's something like mono, however, I am still getting over this nasty cold that went into my chest. I thought that could be what was making me tired, but seeing as how I'm almost recovered, I let that go rather quick, but could be I suppose.
Next visit I have when they draw blood I'm gonna have all those things checked. Iron, B vitas, and folic. And anything else they can check for. I don't remember the last time that was all checked. It can't hurt, they stick me anyway!
The more I read the more I think it's the cymbalta. Like yesterdays has worn off by now, cuz it's been more than 25 hours, and I'm not tired at all. I really think its the pill. Hopefully, I'll adjust eventually to it.

Whew! I am sooooooooo relieved!!!! Thanks you guys, but ya'll did give me some other things that I feel I need to have checked anyway, so it's a good thing I posted this! Big hugs!!!
