Makes in interesting combination with insomnia.
I've also got alpha intrusion, which basically means my brain is still awake when I'm supposed to be in that good deep restorative sleep. I've heard that one's commen with fibromites.
I do not have narcolepsy. I do have obstructive sleep apnea. And the problem mentioned in reply #5. I do not get to the 2 stages of sleep that are restorative. All 3 of my sleep studies had long periods that my brain activity appeared that I was awake, but I was asleep.
I would really appreciate anyone willing to share their knowledge on this subject.
God bless you all & thanks for your sharing.
Are alpha wave intrusions when you go from REM to awake to REM again multiple times but you look like you are sleeping? (you dont' open your eyes or anything but that's what your brain signals do) i did this during my sleep study (the sleep tech showed it to me--he had never seen it before so he didn't know what it was called)
When I saw the Dr that afternoon, he said that he was very concerned about my over night study. Several times my SaO2 got down to around 54%, and I was told that 70% is getting into the dangerous zone.So he decided that we would put the narcolepy on the back burner and try to get my SaO2 up while I sleep. He PX the CPAP, however, I felt like I was choking on it. He finally sent me to an ENT, who examined me, and said that in order for the CPAP to work properly, I need to get my airway open more. And to do that, I need my soft palate (roof of the mouth) shortened and my tonsils out. When I lay down, my tonsils are touching, restricting my airway. So, sometime in the very near future, I will be having, as the Dr described it, a very painful surgery. He said I will be on morphine drops for about a week, because it is really hard to swallow pills, and then for another 1-2 weeks, on some pretty strong stuff for the pain. I won't be able to eat for at least a week. I will be living on protien shakes (yuk), and broth, then for the next 1-2, I will only be able to eat realy soft stuff. I better lose like 40 lbs., ok maybe 10 lbs. Kathy
