Wel, so far I've tripped on a cat, boiled the hot chocolate (ew) and burst into tears. Monday! Hurray!
Long weekend, can ya tell?
Tomorrow they are predicting rain *and* snow here. Which means everyone is panicking. B/c, y'know. Snow that doesn't stick is... uh... aboslutely no problem!

Happy wedding anniversary to Henry VIII (again!) for his fourth marriage, to ANne of Cleves. She was promptly divorced, and she and Henry VIII maintained a good relationship by letter until death they did part. Apparently, he dug her personality but her person, not so much. For those who didn't memorize this for a quiz back in school, the tally is: Wife 1, Katharine, divorced; Wife 2, Anne Boleyn, beheaded (which was a helluva divorce); Wife 3, Jane Seymour, died childbirth; Wife 4, Anne of Cleves, divorced; WIfe 5, Catherine Howard, beheaded (and as she was a close cousin of Anne Boleyn, seriously, just avoid that family, dude); and Wife 6, Kate Parr, died in childbirth... after surviving Henry VIII!
In 1900, famine struck India, and it was reported on this date that millions were in a state of starvation. The 1899-1900 famine was a result of the failed monsoons. No monsoon, no rain. No rain, no crops. No crops, no food. Too little water, as well. This affected animals, too. Estimates of human deaths range from one to 4.5 million; nobody's sure, as not all areas affected were being paid attention to by Westerners. Not all deaths were directly from starvation, but from disease due to weakness from hunger. Despite the fact India usually could trade crops between regions if one area had a bad patch, this monsoon failure struck a huge section of the subcontinent, and that hindered the usual compensation.

OK, well, maybe not therapeutic, but we can dream? Good morning. Not much sleep last night. Frankly, I hate hormones. Nuff said, the ladies all understand what that's about.***THe Spanish word for sister is the only one that isn't related to the old Indo-European root word in all the Latin or even Germanic and Slavic languages.
