We had sevrere eather again yestrerday. No power for hours, sever rain, severe wind, blah blah blah, and the highlight other than flooding? Hail about half-inch to 3/4-inch round, which is fairly epic for where I live. And I have ae metal roof.
And I was home alone. In the dark. Not even phone for a few hours.
Hubby was off out of town having a blast at a rock concert. I had seen the forecast was stormy/rainy, and asked him to reconsider. In case. Nope. Off he went. Gushing gutters? Yep, on me. Emergency ditch work? Me. Heating water over candles to have a cuppa, in the dark? Me. Rain for four flipping hours? Me. No power for so long we lost stuff from fridge? My mess to deal with.
I collapsed around 10 PM, finally, and then he woke me up when he got home at 1 AM.
Wanting to know why the TV was left on.
Well, b/c when we've had an outage,t he damn thing turns itself on when the power kicks back so the stupid thing can do whatever it is it does. Pardon the bloody heck outta me for not waking up whenever it was the power came back just so the TV wasn't on.
I'm glad Hubby had a good time.
I am not glad I had a rotten one.
I think that's fair.
BTW, I ha dno way to get ice. The reason? You'll love it. I paid t aneighbor for ice when he made an ice run. Then he came back, handed me the money, and said, "the supermarket is already sold out and the road to the other place is flooded". Another neighbor, who has a generator? Was screaming at his life partner (wife? girlfriend? Unlucky woman!) b/c the generator got water in its gas. Dude, *everything* got water in it. We've now had about 1/3 our annual precipitation --- in 2 weeks. In downpours. With hail. Wind gusts over 60mph. We're still looking for bodies of people who vanished in the first round of all this "normal weather". (Dripping sarcasm with my dripping rain.)
But God forbid the dude not have his Wii, right?
I was simply glad I had candles and batteries for lamps. That I had filled the stock pots with water when I first heard thunder. (A nice sopnge-down, cups of hot tea made over the candles, etc.)
We come from different worlds, folks. Same planet, but very different worlds sometimes!
Mayhem today as I continue clean-up and brace for today's rain. Oh rapture! My gutter jury-rig held up, but it's wind stuff. I have someone else's patio chair stuck against the holly bush...
Cheers, and purrs!
I'am not a good writer so bear with me.I am in Mexico City at the moment. I meet a man from the US also who tells me he is in Mexico City trying to get his child back.He says his wife a Mexican lady took off to Mexico with the child left him with his grandparents and went back to the US alone taking the child's passport with her because she doesn't want the child anymore and that she was hittng...
