I have found meditation to be the most profound remedy for fibro. I have these wonderful CDs where I can lie down and listen to a guided meditation. After I am finished I can get up and feel much lighter and more aligned and therefore in less pain.It is my refuge from all the problems I may be having (relationships, etc)and also my refuge from fibro. Our minds have a great effect on our bodies and nervous system, and being out of alignment causes the energy to be stuck and painful.
If you think this is airy-fairy and too 'out there', I can understand. But I know from direct experience it works. If you want to know the name of the CDs let me know.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...

Thanks for the info.

I know that what you say is true. I have used meditation for a very long time. I use it when I need to find serenity in the face of utter terror. When I was getting prepared for open heart surgery, with no prior notice, just a test and the next day surgery, I meditated myself into acceptance, simply by relaxing my mind. My blood pressure prior to surgery was normal.
When you meditate, you do allow your body to replenish it's chi energy. I think one of the contributing factors to fibro is a loss of chi, or life energy, which is what accounts for the extreme fatigue. When we can really rest our minds and our bodies (and that is where the meditation is the vehicle for the rest) we see an improvement in our pain levels.
Just call me Woo-Woo Woman...my kids do!
I love meditation. Sometimes it is what helps the most.
Healing takes place when the mind and body are at rest and at peace and the energy can flow.
The best CDs I have found are by Leslie Temple- Thurston and they can be ordered at Corelight.com. They are not based on any religious persuasion, if that is an issue with you. Start with the first one, 'Deep Relaxation and Expansion' for a few days or weeks or months. Then go on to 'Burning Karma' and 'Gateway to Samadhi' if you liked her first one. She is compassionate and her voice is calming and accompanied by soothing music. I have listened to many CDs but I find hers to be the best. By the way, I am not affiliated with her!
If you cannot afford these CDs, you can go to your local library which was suggested in one response. But I think music alone or the sound of waves alone is not enough. You need a voice to guide you.
Maybe you can save some money by missing a therapy session and getting the CD. Meditation is better for me than any massage or physio or laying about watching TV.
I also find that it is of utmost importance to deep breath slowly throughout the CD. Otherwise your mind will scatter into thought.
Heaven forbid!!
Please continue to let me know how meditation helps you.
It's so easy, you can lay on the floor, and all you have to do is breath and listen and quiet the mind.
When you get up you will feel refreshed and have more energy. If you are having difficulty with meditating, let me know and perhaps I can help. Love, Emmaji
People who have attention difficulties such as ADD or who are very tense startle and distract easily (me) so I highly reccoment guided imagry or meditation...hugs jilly
helps me block the pain.. it's still there but my mind is clear and i can ignore it.
People think you have to sit up cross-legged, but it is not necessary to do this to quiet the mind and find Space and deep relaxation. Lie down and be at peace and comfort. You are encouraging to us all. Blessings, Emmaji
