Hi my name is Kevin and you all know my wife as V. She has been having a really bad time with Lexapro and she say's you can help so I am asking for help.
She has been scared to death of everything and crying all the time. This is not like her at all. It's not acting like an anti-depressant it is like a depressant. I have been through this kind of stuff with her before but this one is pretty bad.
I am just wondering what side effects any of you have had with this? I hate watching her like this. She is so strong and I just don't know what to do anymore. I am going to call the doc who gave this to her on Monday and talk to him but for now I need to do something to help her until then. She is not going to hurt herself because I will be here for her and watch her.
She is sleeping good but gets panic attacks like no tomorrow. She has been having to take about 5 zanax a day to keep her from losing it.
I want to have all my ducks in a row when I call the doctor on monday. He told her he wants her to keep taking this for 3 weeks and this morning she took it earlier and was better than yesterday but just ok today. She is starting up the crying and feeling worthless to me and our family again.
If you have any information that you would like to share it would really help.
Thank you

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I can't do the info bit on this med as I'm in the UK and it is all different over here. The most you can do is keep notes on her behaviour and state of mind when she is awake, so you can tell the doc what has been going on. On the practical side, you have to reassure her over and over that you love her, that her family love her, she is not hurting any of you coz of this. This is a really terrible side to fibro, but hang on in there Kevin. To be honest, I would stop taking the med and flush it thru by drinking water and lots of it. It can take so long to find the best med for a person. You could phone your local ER and ask them for a more prompt answer. That may be a better option right now. Sorry couldn't be much help Poppet. Warm thoughts and Hugs, Owlxx

In any case, I tend to agree with the rest of the people here. The ER sound like a plan. As far as taking her off it, I'm just not sure if there is a weaning off period or anything. Just be careful of that. Sometimes there's a withdrawal with antidepressants.
I guess to sum up, the doctor, or the ER, will be able to answer these questions and better than ANY of us can.
You're both in my prayers and hang in there....things will get better!

It's Laurie, in NY. Tell her to call me, or I will call you in a little while. I haven't heard from her much lately. I hope she's ok. I used to take Lexapro and didn't have any problems with it, but after 2 years it quit working for me. The anti depressants do take time to work and if they took her off the other meds she is probably withdrawing. I can't believe they would just STOP all meds without tapering off! Let me know if she needs to talk, I'm here and will be home all night, I don;t care what time, she can call me, or you can too. My phone# should be in her cell phone. Tell her I love her!

I have been taking Lexapro since june 06 and have had no problems. The ER sounds like a very good idea.

I know she is going through some type of withdrawal because this is what happened to her when she came off the methadone.
None of her meds have been changed they just added the Lexapro because the Cymbalta didn't work at all.
I have to talk to her doctor on Monday but we need to get through today. She is ok but in a lot of pain and crying a lot. My talk with the doctor will be about how to get her off the Lexapro.
I understand your not Doctors but I don't want to take her to the ER because we've been through this and the last time they didn't do anything and we waited hours. Our insurance Co. sucks so I just need help for today until I can get that doctor on the phone.
So for now I will trying some of the suggestions for detox but if you could just pray for her God will get us through this once again.
I want to thank you all for caring so much about my wife. She loves all of you and believe it or not you have really helped with this.....Thanks again!!
