After many different doctors and tests I was diagnosed with fibro yesterday by a rheumatologist (sp?). He gave me flexiril and mobic and told me to come back in three months and to call him if these meds don't work. I have joined a gym with a pool and I told him about it. He was very happy about that. Should he have done more? Where do I go from here? I forgot to ask him about all of the fatigue I am experiencing. I was too tired to remember what to ask him! Any suggestions would be SO appreciated! (((hugs))) Jen

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
It might take time to find what works for you. Thank God the people here on fibro can suggest many things that have & have not worked for them.
Please reach out...fibro is a very fristrating disease to treat & have.
Best wishes & warm hugs...
Is the pool 92 degrees or warmer? If not, it could actually do you more harm than good. My pain doctor told me that - he has done a lot of research on it. He said if you shiver getting in or out of the water, your muscles will tighten up and the pool will do no good. Be careful not to overdo on the gym equipment - start slow and work your way up. I hope this works for you!
When I was first dx'd, I was prescribed 5 medications, and narcotic pain meds was one of them. You didn't say if your pain is under control or if you are concerned about these two meds helping your pain? If you need pain meds, narcotics, then you probably will need a pain management clinic for that. Some rheumy's will still prescribe the narcs, but most are referring to PM docs due to the DEA. Don't let your pain control you. If you hurt and feel that you need stronger meds, take your health into your own hands, and take control. Get to a PM doc. They are good at helping, but sometimes you do have to go to several to find the right one. Just NEVER give up.
One suggestion, is read alot, look at people's profiles and see what meds they are on, and how they help them. Print off anything that you want your docs to read, and take it to them. If this doc isn't responding to your requests, move on and find another.
Post any questions you have, and we'll be glad to help as much as we can. Good luck.
I pray for you that you find the right Combinatios of treatment that will help you live your life as pain and fatigue free as you can !!
I have opted for the natural route as I seem to have developed a sensativity to meds...at some point in the past few years...so if you have any questions about that just message me and I will offer up any help I can !!
Take care and God Bless you, Bonnie
