I had my normal 6 month check up with him this morning. He informed me that I had put on another 5 pounds, although he guessed that wasn't TOO bad for 6 months. I had to tell him I was taking the amitryptaline/elavil now as well. He asked who prescribed it & why, and I told him I'd seen an internist who really thought I had fibro. He said most psychiatrists don't like to use elavil with their patients, asked if my psych knew about it & okayed it. He tested my tender points again, and I did actually have a response this time to some of them, although I was still under the radar, I think they want you to have 11?? I only had 8 or 9 today. He basically told me I was overweight & really needed to lose some, thank you very much Dr, I think I realize that. Told me to check into water aerobics at the YMCA & said several of his patients had less pain after doing that. When I asked him if I could go without being a member, he gave me this stupid look & actually said something to the effect of "why would I know that??" I said if he knew patients were going there, I just thought he might know if you needed a membership or not! He asked if I wanted to continue with him or not; I'm seeing him, my GP, an internist & a psychiatrist. Gee, I could be rich if I didn't have all those copays & RX costs!! Basically all he does for me is write my RX for Flexeril. He said he'd probably rather see me on 3 Flexeril & no Elavil, instead of the 2 Flexeril + 125 mg of Elavil. I think that he thinks I'm over medicated, lazy & fat. He asked me if my internist was prescribing the hydrocodone & I told him that he did, and that my GP had done so as well. I was really a bit upset after my appt with him. I don't know, maybe he felt insulted that I went to another dr & got a diagnosis of FMS from them & not him. He's kind of hard to read, and/or understand at times anyways, as he's from Pakistan or India, I don't remember, but he talks with a heavy accent & has no sense of humor. Anyways, that's my bad doctor story for this month!
