I really hate physician assistants. I've never talked to a understanding one. So I posted before that I ran out of my pain meds--well, I ran out 10 days early and I just knew that asking for more medication was going to be a problem. I was right. The Dr. on call was the P.A. I guess my doc is on vacation. So he calls my cell and is like--this is 10 days early. I explained to him that I had a really bad flare and the weather changes have made this really bad this month. I even went in on Friday for a shot of torcodal (like an injected IB Profen that they give to patients after major surgery--and like NO effect!). Anyway, so he said he'd refill it but that he was going to talk to my dr. and that I shouldn't just expect this all the time and not to ask for more until Dec. 1 (which of course I know I'll be out by then.) He was such a jerk on the phone and treated me like a druggy. I told him I had already made an appointment with my Dr. for when he gets back from vacation.
So this is what I did. I went right into the Dr.'s office, got the prescription and asked to speak to him. Wearing my press pass (i'm a freelance writer) I introduced myself holding my 3 month hold. I said, "Hi, my name is____ and this is my son. I just wanted to meet you in person so I could put a name with the face and likewise. I'm a full-time graduate student, part time freelance writer and editor, and a full time mom. It is nice to meet you"
BOY did he back off! I said before I left, "Thank you so much for writing the prescription--it is VERY MUCH appreciated." What could he say once he saw I was a normal person? He just nodded and waved and backed away.
Finally--one triumph.

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
Finally, one triumph of what I suspect will be many more!
