I had someone tell me today to stop saying I am always sick. That I should just stop thinking about it. Put it out of my mind and I wouldn't be sick anymore. Obviously they don't understand at all how we feel. But I just wondered how people respond to stupid remarks like this. I actually didn't really respond. I just moved on with the conversation.

I gave my 2 week notice last Friday 13th. Now to join you fine people in a life of leisure and nothing else to do but to look out for myself....is it just me or does that sound pretty boring? My goal was to live to retire and I guess having to take early retirement because of health reasons wasn't exactly the way I had planned things. I just can't stay in that building that is reeking mildew...

I'm trying to exercise daily. I was doing fairly well until I sprained my ankle 2 weeks ago but now I'm getting back on the horse. Today I walked over a mile with my arm weights that are about 22lbs total. I was out of shape and it was hard on my arms. I also did my 30 situps. I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
You could reply "no, I just need to stop talking to rude and ignorant people"
step 1 raise middle finger
step 2 lick middle finger for lubrication
step 3 tell em to sit and spin
just a thought i hate people like that
that f word works well too
my response if i could think of it in a timely manner would be: oh, is that all i have to do?? man, that's great advice. :) tee hee.
Slay them with kindness, later on you will remember your slight to them with a smile and you haven't looked like a jerk. If it happens with the same person again unless you are confined to an elevator or car on a long distance drive, I would probably tell her that she is welcome to walk away from my conversation and perhaps begin one of her own with someone who might be interested in what she had t say
I consider it very hurtful and if they felt that you talked about it too much then they should take themselves away from you. Screw them!!!
Im sure they will shut up at that point ?
How heartless is someone to even say that let alone be callused enough to mean it?
So I assume you have to show physical signs of being disabled?
Tell em to come on home with ya and watch you limp out of bed in the morning maybe that will help em better understand this disease!
Or wait I have a better one, how bout when we have "fibro fog" and find our car keys in the refrigerator? Yes how much fun it is to explain this Illness to someone without it ....
Its ok Doll trust me, you will get somewhat "accustomed" to this reaction and learn to deal with the fortunate healthy people...
You will finally say If you wear earplugs and stay distant from me you wont have to hear me at all LOL...
So next time you want to complain just send all us "fibro" people a personal message, we understand...
Much love and respect,
