People With Disabilities, today! I did, at a local Nursing Home Auditorium we had a City Celebration today! The Mayor proclaimed, International Day of People With Disabilities, & the Councillor & Chair of the City Transit Commission said a speech about disabled transportation improvements, & the Councillor and Chair of the Disabilities Issues Committee said a speech. Then they honoured Unsung Disability Heroes who volunteered and were helpful in making our lives better in their Volunteering to improve Disability Groups etc. in the City, etc. We had morning snacks to wake us up and lunch to sustain us through out all the speeches, lol! It went from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and made me proud to live in my City! They had lots of information booths with all the Government Services and Programmes and Groups available in our fair City for people with Disabilities! Then at the end we had an Open Forum to discuss ways to improve Disability issues in our City and what we think neeed improvement etc. It was a great day and made me proud to live in my City. It was all taped and some was on the local City news too!!!!

I'm also going to drink a lot of water and try to eat healthy. I do tend to have a sweet tooth but I'm cutting...
I've never run across the phrase "said a speech" - here in the U.S. we say "gave a speech" or "delivered a speech" - is that a Canadian turn of phrase?
I'm fascinated by the many forms of "English" that exist around the world and the different ways that the same things are said.
Thanks!

They do have National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day in May. We're planning a big fund-raiser here for my group, centered around fibro awareness day.
