I was put in the hospital with a severe migraine last month and they told me I had fybro instead. I was in for a week and now I am out and Ihave notstopped hurting, muscles spasms and hurting from head to toe. I went on short term and cometo find out my work was waiting until Thursday to see if I was coming back or I was going to be let go. So I have called the dr to set up an appt with the dr to release me but I am still hurting so bad and my migraine is there not to mention other crap!! Hubby is mad as hell right now and knows I can't drive an hour across the valley to get to work so he has asked me to find out about getting SSI. Has anyone ever gotten SSI due to this?? Also I am really new to this can anyone give me advice as to how to handle all this pain??

I have a friend who guided me and I was greatfull because I got the SSDI the first time out. The advive was to go see a Psychiatrist for the depression that accompanies the disease, and from apply from that direction, so your my main disability is severe depression due to an illness, and then the illness. I called straight into my local SS office and delt with them rather than the 800 number. From start to finish the process took 2 months. I was only unemployeed for 6 months prior to that so I took the unemployment for 6 months went 2 months with nothing, and then started collecting. I don't know if it will work for you but I know several people that it has worked just as smoothly for.

I hope so. My Hubby is working two jobs now so I hate to dump more on him. We haven't hurt right now for money but that was because I still had a smaller pay check and Friday I get my short term disability check..I just can't believe my job won't be more supportive I have been there for over a year. I keep going through things then I have to get up and leave the computer because my head is banging and my body hurts.

The only thing that is good about your job doing that, is that it solidified that you cannot work due to your illness and that it effects your ability to hold a job, that may come in handy, it did for me. I lived on the phone from the time I started, I was afraid of hurting financially, and I wound up getting a larger amount than I thought I would, now that I don't understand, but thats what happened.

I to went to the Pshyc doctor and Im sure thats what helped me get my SSI, I filed in Jan 2007 and got it June 2007 . Get as much info as you can, Letters from your doctor and see a Pshyc doctor for depression . I know you are hurting and I feel for you alot. Mine has gotton out of control and I will see a pain management doctor next month. has your doc given you any pain meds sounds like you could use some.

Yeah and I have to get more tmrw just so I can function. I just hate it because I don't want them thinking I am a drug seeker. I have a ton of tests set up so I feel my job will use that against me also since I have to do so many so I will miss days for these tests. What all tests did everyone else go through??

Your job CANNOT fire you for medical problems. Its a federal law. If you have been at your job for over a year then see about FMLA...if not then your doctors note should be sufficient. If they let you go, I would get free legal advice since u will then have limited income. Yes I know people that have gotten ssi/ssd because they have fibro. I am actually in the process of getting approved/denied right now.... I heard the first time around you get denied. I am then going to hire a local disability attorney and then thats when I will get approved. Allsup is also great but they charge 25% of your lump sum check you receive in the beginning...if that doesn't bother you then I would definitely go for it. BUT if you apply now on ssa.gov then the goverment has to pay you retroactive all the way back to the date that you first applied.

Go ifgure, took most the day but finally got the right person and they told me that the state of AZ can let me go even if the DR says I can't work right now.

So sorry you are going thru all this FF. I'm in the UK so don't know if this applys or not, but anyone on sick leave can not be sacked/fired/let go. You hubby is right to be mad at your company if this is what they are planning. I know SSI is very difficult to obtain over there, I wish you luck with this SSI. Do not dispair though, more responses will be heading your way soon from the others. Warm thoughts and hugs, Owlxx
